This is ridiculous. Now with the last update, our system is slower than ever, takes forever to boot up, get the spinning beach ball constantly, my wife is nagging, omg get me away from this.... must be a Microsoft product!

I've neglected to post my "answer" here.
It seems the problem rested in a faulty drive. It was a brand new, Apple branded drive, so I assumed that it was in working condition. Seems it was having issues and that was what was causing all of my problems and agrivation. After buying a new drive, doing another clean install, I would say that I rarely have any problems. Sometimes I'll get that lockup problem (mosty when using iChat) but it is rare and quickly snaps out of it.
This thread ranks on the first page of google. SERPS, so its by far the best place to post and get Apples attention. Its age only helps.
