Push settings to users on a mac doesn't seem to work.

I've setup various profiles for devices and users. Settings for ios devices works fine but settings for users on a mac seem to hang indefinetely. IT keeps sending in my profile manager and never seems to be able to push the settings.

I keep getting messages like the following, anyone an idea ?

Aug 17 21:08:21 iserve.ath.cx ruby[458] <Info>: Pruning certificate chain to 18446744073709551615

Aug 17 21:08:21 iserve.ath.cx ruby[458] <Debug>: Trying to add a bogus certificate

Aug 17 21:08:21 iserve.ath.cx ruby[458] <Debug>: An error occured while inserting an untrusted certificate into the chain

All mac's have the trusted certificate installed and are enrolled.

I have no clue how to solve this.

Peter-Erik~

The krypted article did not work for me. We tried this, and still experienced intermittent profile deployments.

I completely understand... this is why we spent over a month trying to get the profile manager to "consistently" work. It would always get clogged and certain tasks would fail to deploy.

I don't know if your deployment is for work, school, or home... but if it was for work, and you have time constraints... seriously consider using Workgroup Manager for the majority of your settings and Profile Manager for the few items that Workgroup Manager can't deploy (i.e. radius certificates, iPhone / iPad settings).

The whole profile manager was such a miserable experience... I felt the need to post my findings to the forums to help others avoid a time sink.

If the settings you are looking to deploy are available in Workgroup Manager (WGM), use it first. Fallback to Profile Manager for the few things WGM can't.

I know what you mean Ion. I probably will end up using WGM. I was looking for that in the first place when I first got the **** thing. First time with an OS X Server, was really diappointed today when PM broke 😟 ... I might reconfigure it all anyway, there's probably a load of messed up settings because of my experimentation.

I'll have a look next week I think. It's getting nearer home time 🙂...

Really annoying though. So frustrated.

Thanks for both of your help all the same 🙂
