iWeb support and continuation

I have many, many hours invested in web sites created in iWeb. Now I understand that I will have to migrate my work to another provider and that components of my site such as my blog and other features will not transfer. Why is iWeb's fucntionality (at least some key components) being abandoned. What are my options? Any way to preserve the look, fell and funtion of what I have?

A follow-up to my posts about Host Excellence's web hosting service. I signed up the other night and have talk to and emailed their tech support a few times already. Excellent tech support!!

P.S. Host Excellence and IX Web Hosting are the same outfits...so I doubt it would matter which one you choose.

Thanks again for all the very helpful posts, Gramps.

I have been using Host Excellence for a number of years and was the first to mention them in this forum when I dared to suggest that it was possible to upload the files of an iWeb build site rather than the whole folder.

This was treated with derision by the "experts" in this forum and I was told that it was impossible even although I was doing it.

I got the idea from the fact that HE allows you to create a root folder with the same name as the site in iWeb which, to my mind, makes them stand above all the rest along with their superior tech support.

I have always encouraged new users to move their domain egistrations to HE as well since it makes admin easier and can save money.

Recently I have helped quite a few people move their sites and domains to HE and the process is smooth and quick. Moving a domain registration from Yahoo via Melbourne IT took 72 hours - including propagation - which is a record for me.

If anybody is contemplating using free hosting, an online web design service like Weebly or any form of "Cloud", read this first and be aware of the potential disasters.
