Arrange by "Date Added" lists recently added files with "No Date"

One of my favorite new features in Finder is the option to "Arrange by Date Added".

I have a folder with three items added today. As expected, when viewed in Finder they are listed at the top of the window (in column view) in the "Today" section.

When I want to add these items as a new "source" in Handbrake, the newly added items in this folder do not appear in the "Today" section. They appear in the "No Date" section instead.

The same thing happens when, after processing with Handbrake, I want to add the newly created media files to my iTunes library. They appear in the "No Date" section of the window rather than the "Today" section.

To recap: Files added to a folder today appear in the "Today" section when viewed in Finder. The same files appear in the "No Date" section when viewed through applications other than Finder.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Yosemite did not fix this annoying issue.

Where I can report this to Apple??

I installed Yosemite on my machines over the weekend and...yes, this issue is still present. I haven't tried troubleshooting to find when and where it specifically presents itself but, it's still a problem for me (at least sometimes).

I have to replace a hard drive later this week (as soon as the parts arrive). Rather than duplicating, then restoring my hard drive, I'm going to do a clean install. Maybe this will do the trick.

I concur, this issue is still present in Yosemite, and not hardware related as I changed that at the same time!

I suggest we simply adopt the workaround described in http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/99365/mac-os-x-file-open-dialog-cant-so rt-or-resize-columns and forget about this quirk!

Zapping pram fixed the problem on 10.10.3 as well.

STILL HAPPENING SO ANNOYING

*** apple! happens in nearly all software and blah blah

mostly Photoshop, but also text files and more.

Still happening to me often! By the looks of it, in this thread, it has been going on for many years now. Hey Apple people, do you guys ever read these discussions that are on your website? How is it that you don't have designated jobs for people to get to the bottom of these issues and communicate honestly with your users in this forum that you have provided?

Well, I'm "glad" to see others with this aggravating problem. Saving by Date Created is very important to have the latest version show up on top of the list. Not down in a group with NO DATE.

Only a temporary "fix". Computer was never put to sleep, but after extended time on Apples screen saver, the latest files saved again, go to the bottom of the list in the NO DATE area. Maddening.

This "solved" the problem for me temporarily. After overnight non-use in screen saver mode, computer is back to abnormal behavior. It just started with the advent of Yosemite for me. And it's a global system-wide phenom -- any dialogue box from Adobe products or Apples Safari has the same behavior.

I just upgraded to El Capitan and the date problem is resolved....for now!

Not quite resolved. For the most part it still *****. I hope Apple fixes this.
