What is the keyboard shortcut to sleep display on the Macbook Air?

This thread was just hilarious to read. I love how 99% of you failed to read the OP's actual question. COMPUTER STANDBY SLEEP is DIFFERENT than DISPLAY SLEEP. There are MANY ways to do this, he wants the most simple way. Anyway, thanks to the last poster made it simple and easy.

control+shift+power button is DISPLAY SLEEP

Pressing the power button and hitting S is COMPUTER STANDBY SLEEP

Ctrl+Shift+Power

IT'S SO SIMPLE. HIT THE POWER BUTTON QUICKLY, LIKE 1/4 SECOND. GOES RIGHT TO SLEEP.

A little trial and error can oftenget you just the answer you need.

For the n^th time: the sleep display keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+Power.

For my purpose ie. turn off the screen just to save some battery when I have to leave my MBA 11 (no Eject key) but will come back, hold the Power key (very short time, like 1/4 second) works great. Control + Shift + Power works too, your choice.

The keyboard shortcut for sleeping the macbook air is the same as the keyboard shortcut on the iMac. It's option+command+the power button

Option + Command + Power Button = Sleep. It works for me 🙂

This is an acceptable answer to OP's question.

If your laptop has no eject button, just use the power button instead (at least that's how it works on my Macbook Pro): Ctrl-Shift-Power. Sleeps the display but not the hard drive.
