What is the keyboard shortcut to sleep display on the Macbook Air?

Better solution is to install Better Touch Tool, then assign whatever global shortcut (keyboard, trackpad, mouse or remote) you like to be the 'sleep display'/'sleep computer' buttons.

I personally use cmd+alt+bacspace

For the n^th time: the sleep display keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+Power.

The keyboard shortcut for sleeping the macbook air is the same as the keyboard shortcut on the iMac. It's option+command+the power button

This is an acceptable answer to OP's question.

If your laptop has no eject button, just use the power button instead (at least that's how it works on my Macbook Pro): Ctrl-Shift-Power. Sleeps the display but not the hard drive.
