Delete Macintosh HD but keep Recovery HD

Hello!

I just installed a (**** fast) SSD as second drive to my Mac Mini 2011. I used Super Duper to restore the Macintosh HD to the SSD wich worked great. Now I boot and work from the SSD.

Since I read when I use the mac disk tool and format the Macintosh HD the Recovery HD is also lost.

Can you tell me how I can delete the Macintosh HD but keeping the Recovery HD? Maybe its just opening the finder select als folders on Macintosh HD and delete?

Greetings

Tobias

I wasn't trying to hijack your thread or strike up a conversation, but merely trying to pass on information hence the smiley in my original reply to you in that thread.

As for this one WZZZ (who apologised for being off topic in his post) has no email link in his profile so this is my only way of passing on even more information.

You know, off topic is off topic.

Find another way to hook up with others thriving in topic-creep. Like, direct them to your published email in your profile as a PS in on-topic discussion. BUT, every reply here should start by respecting the discussion author's question. Or..., start your own topics and attract all the topic-creeping there.

Oh, but you did... and with advice you don't even adhere to yourself. 😁

Thanks chris for keeping this thread clean 😉

Thanks for saying that. I only come to the discussions for a first line of Mac Support. Although I can appreciate off-topic tech chat, I think it should be on its own discussion so that users who need help can get the help they need faster. From now on, I'm going to add a "Request Replies Stay On-Topic" to my discussions, similar to what I did here. Another problem is when people post copyrighted material such as that cartoon, since Apple distributes for so many publishers that would be a mark against their image if not addressed.

When I'm here participating in the Support Discussions, I like to pay-it-forward and try to help where I can. We have a lot of Macs and I recycle to new stuff all the time. The mid-2011 Mini is terrific, as is the mid-2011 MacBook Air. Very fast for the price. I try to only talk about stuff I actually own.

Since it takes 5-6h to download lion I've ordered now the lion USB stick, then I am gonna make a clean install to the SSD.

Bummer... I downloaded lion 2 times before running into instructions about making an installESD.dmg. I think it took me about 3h.

I am curious if the lion USB stick will really work with my mac mini 2011 since it has a special lion build on it ... hopefully it work!

I think so... it would be nice if every time the stick was used any updates would be reflected in the next use of the stick. Guess I have my head in the iClouds.
