AAAAARRRRGGHH
As I started syncing music and a video the charging not supported message reappeared.
What is going on I still haven't unplugged the lead.
I've also lost all the photos from my phone's camera roll
Just noticed that despite the charging not supported etc. the phones battery level percentage hsa just gone up 2 %
It's slow but charging.
And 2 more % points. Added this to make sure I wasn't imagining it.
I won't be giving an update on every battery charge increase - too exciting for some.
Mr Finch, perhaps using your 40 years experience and the word "dirt", you can explain how my iPhone suddenly start charging normally when I switch WI-FI off.
UPdate on this.
The warning message is back. Not sure how long it took.
Phone still seems to be charging
If it's an older charger in the car it is probably not compatible with the iPad. Many older chargers used the Firewire protocol; this is not supported on any iDevice beyond the original iPhone.
Sorry to be boring but unplugged phone 10 minutes later plugged it in again and no warning message.
I don't know now. Is it a bit of grit rattling around in there some where? Or is it software?
First try cleaning the bugs out of the connector on the bottom of the phone.
.
After reading your sarcastic reply, I just blew on the connectors to blow away any dust or whatever, and charging again proceeded normally!
So sarcasm is useful sometimes.
.
it doesn't work unless you use a soft toothbrush.. based on the number of "dirty connectors" maybe I should buy stock in colgate....
And because the issue didn't happen on mr Finch's 3GS mobile, makes all the rest of people in this post liars or tech incompetents... nice try mr Finch, nice try.
I was just responding to an earlier claim that ALL 3GS's have the problem.
I have the same problem and this has only started since I upgraded to latest OS and its happening with all my chargers. Apple need to get this issue sorted
Put in airplane mode and it will charge fine. It's a free work-around until there's an iOS update.
