Sent folder only show senders name in mail apps

I have two questions regarding sent folder in mail

1. Every time i sent email from my blackberry, the sent folder in mac (i use mail apps) only shows sender's name (which is my name). How to change into the recipients name?

2. Is there a way to manage where blackberry or other smartphone arrange the sent folder? I use blackberry and samsung galaxy s2. And i have 3 sent folder, which i want to merge into only 1 sent folder.

Thanks guys

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7), Blackberry and samsung galaxy s2

i'm not sure this is what evryone is looking for but it certainly solved the issue for me.

Here's how :

STEP 1. On your mail app side menu click on your gmail sent mail folder (all your sent mail will appear on the right with sender name as supposed to the name of the person you are sending it to)

STEP 2. Move your cursor to the top of the screen (main menu) and click on "Mailbox" navigate to the bottom of the menu and chose "Use This Mailbox For" and pick : "sent"

VOILA' !

hope it helps some of you. if so pls let me know

let me add a piece to this explanation.

when you perform the use this "mailbox for" operation, what will happen is that if you look above on the left side menu a sent folder will have been specifically created for THAT mail account and inside THAT folder the name will not appear as yours but u'll be able to read the name of the contact you are sending it to. if instead you click on sent folder of gmail ora anyother for that matter u'll still see your name.

I have found a solution which works:

Go to 'settings' (in Dutch: Ga naar "instellingen")

Choose 'E-mail, contacts, dairies' (in Dutch: kies "E-mail. contacten, agenda's")

Select the account by which you have the problem in your sent item box.

In my case it's an IMAP account.

Tap on account to see or to manage the account settings.

Tap on advanced (Dutch: geavanceerd) to see or to manage the advanced settings.

What you have to change are the upper 3 settings. which are 3 mailbox settings (dutch: Postbusinstellingen).

Select by each of those three the right map. For example: select by send (dutch: verstuurd) the sent items map of your account.

Confirm all changes and go back to your e-mail and you will found that the sent items are shown correct with a nice icon of a paper-plane.

I use 10.8.2; Mail 6.2 and still have this issue. Tryed everything from this article (manipulations with classic view coloumns, system preference settings, direct imap folder syncing). Nothink solved this issue.

Hey Apple I'll never ever forget my own name ok? =) And I know that only I send the e-mails to someone. I really dream about this bug fixed because love Mail.app.

Running Mail 5.3 and Lioin 10.7. Same issue. Sent folder shows my name and not who the emai was sent to. Annoying when tryng to find an email for follow up work. Apple should fix this. An add-on app, Mail Tags corrects this but why should we have to buy an add-on for something as simple as this. Sidebar - a feature I would like to see in Mail is the ability to "delay" sending an email. Create a new mail today, and set the Send date for tomorrow afternoon. Good for when I'm up early in the AM and am sending emails to collegues on the West Coast of US that are still sleeping. I don't want to be in their Inbox until later in their day. Or I'm going to be on an airplane most of today and can schedule emails.

Hi, I have multiple accounts in Mac Mail, using Mountain Lion. I solved this problem by clicking on the triangle next to Sent in the mailbox menu to expand the menu into Sent from each individual account. I selected each individual Sent mailbox in turn, and the messages now displayed recipient instead of sender. When I collapsed the menu again, recipients continued to show. I have a feeling it might switch back at some point, but at the moment it's holding up.

For me, the problem of sent mail not displaying the recipient within the “official” sent mail folders was solved a long time ago. However, I archive all of my emails, sent and received together, into a variety of folders, including the standard Archive folder. Within those folders, emails that I've sent only show my name instead of displaying the recipient.

This is not helpful. Any email sent from my Mail app was obviously sent by me. I need to see who each email was sent TO without having to click on every single message in the list.

It would make much more sense to always display the recipient, not the sender (whenever I'm the sender), across all folders.

My suggestion would be to add a small “To” icon in front of all sent items in the list and show at least the first recipient, rather than the “From”, which, once again, is always me.

I spoke too soon, I am still plagued by this problem. If, for example, I'm looking at all the mails in one of my Inboxes, they show the sender's name in the list on the left-hand side. However, if you search for mails, they all then show my own name or email address (as recipient), which is not a lot of use to me at all. I'm pretty sure I reported this as a bug in Mountain Lion.

I'm on 10.9.1 and it is most certainly still a problem with folders other than the main Sent folder (unless you revert to “classic layout” and show both sender and recipient columns).

There is no setting for the sort column that will allow you to display the receipient(s) of the email for emails where you are the sender.

The Archive folder is the primary example. Emails that were sent by me list my name in the sort column instead of displaying the recipient's name. This is really irritating since I obviously know that emails sent by me were sent by me. I want to see who they were sent to without having to click on each one. Sorting by "To" is a complete mess. I can't even find a pattern. It just mixes in emails I've sent with emails I've received in seemingly random order.

I'm using Exchange Server and Apple Mail, all work fine until one day i move all of my message to local folder (on my Mac) with different folders i setup (i.e. Inbox-Local, Sent Item-Local) in order to save up some free space on Exchange server. The problem is when I view the message/email in sent item -local (local folder on my mac) the email was sort by sender's name which is myself and i couldn't figure it out how to sort by recipient (i.e For Outlook there's option to sort by or view by To - the recipient), but if I move one message/email from the Sent Item-Local (on my mac) to Sent items on Exchange (the icon with paper aeroplane) then you can see it sort out by recipient name just what I expected it would do on Sent Item - Local. The thing here is, it's only work when you copy or move your message to the Exchange server. How can i resolve this ? i don't really like using Outlook 2011 for Mac since it's slowing down my Macbook Air mid 2012 (Core i5, 4GB Memory, 128GB SSD, and Intel HD 4000). Any help or workaround solutions will be appreciated. Thanks.
