Sent folder only show senders name in mail apps

I have two questions regarding sent folder in mail

1. Every time i sent email from my blackberry, the sent folder in mac (i use mail apps) only shows sender's name (which is my name). How to change into the recipients name?

2. Is there a way to manage where blackberry or other smartphone arrange the sent folder? I use blackberry and samsung galaxy s2. And i have 3 sent folder, which i want to merge into only 1 sent folder.

Thanks guys

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7), Blackberry and samsung galaxy s2

I'm on 10.9.1 and it is most certainly still a problem with folders other than the main Sent folder (unless you revert to “classic layout” and show both sender and recipient columns).

There is no setting for the sort column that will allow you to display the receipient(s) of the email for emails where you are the sender.

The Archive folder is the primary example. Emails that were sent by me list my name in the sort column instead of displaying the recipient's name. This is really irritating since I obviously know that emails sent by me were sent by me. I want to see who they were sent to without having to click on each one. Sorting by "To" is a complete mess. I can't even find a pattern. It just mixes in emails I've sent with emails I've received in seemingly random order.

I'm using Exchange Server and Apple Mail, all work fine until one day i move all of my message to local folder (on my Mac) with different folders i setup (i.e. Inbox-Local, Sent Item-Local) in order to save up some free space on Exchange server. The problem is when I view the message/email in sent item -local (local folder on my mac) the email was sort by sender's name which is myself and i couldn't figure it out how to sort by recipient (i.e For Outlook there's option to sort by or view by To - the recipient), but if I move one message/email from the Sent Item-Local (on my mac) to Sent items on Exchange (the icon with paper aeroplane) then you can see it sort out by recipient name just what I expected it would do on Sent Item - Local. The thing here is, it's only work when you copy or move your message to the Exchange server. How can i resolve this ? i don't really like using Outlook 2011 for Mac since it's slowing down my Macbook Air mid 2012 (Core i5, 4GB Memory, 128GB SSD, and Intel HD 4000). Any help or workaround solutions will be appreciated. Thanks.

All the forums on this issue had no solution that worked for me BUT APPLE SUPPORT HELPLINE JUST CLEARED IT UP FOR ME! (I was eligible to talk to them without paying their fee because I was within 90 days of having installed Mavericks (10.9.4) which this forum claimed would fix my problem, but didn't!)

My original problem was that when moving my correctly labelled emails from my 'sent' folder to a new folder that i had created 'on my mac', when transferred, all the mails in the new folder only showed the senders name (i.e. my name).

To solve this issue:

1. Highlight folder that has the issue (I highlighted all the content too, just because...)

2. Go to mail 'Preferences', then 'Viewing'

3. Click 'use classic layout'

4. In the top menu bar, click 'View', 'Column', 'To' (so that 'To' now has a tick beside it)

(a new column appears with the info you want! Then...)

5. Pick up the newly created 'To' column and drag it to the left so it's the first column

6. In the top menu bar, click 'View', 'Column', 'From' (so that 'From' does not have a tick beside it anymore)

7. Back in the preferences box, untick 'use classic layout' and close preferences

8. The problem is solved (and the only thing left to do is drag the extreme right hand border of the Mail window back towards the left so that you can see the body of the highlighted mail/mails)

Nope, didn't work for me either.

And, btw, in classic mode, my "TO" already was checked and all the way to the left. And my "FROM" was unchecked.

But once I got out of classic mode, it made no difference.

So to repeat for any newcomer. Let's say I want to search a term in my SENT folder. Say, "Love" or "Thanksgiving" or "Spatula."

All the relevant emails will be listed with only my own name at top (not the "to" name)

Alas the Apple Tech's 'fix' was short-lived... Re-opening Mail has re-set it to the annoying default we are all trying to get around. For what it is worth I called Apple back, the tech couldn't fix it so a senior tech was assigned to me but he also failed. He's going to send an internal mail to see if anyone has any ideas as well as communicating the issue to Apple's engineers directly. If i ever hear back, I'll post the result.

Did anyone come up with a resolution to this yet?

This process was working very well - I had high hopes - until step 8 when you uncheck the Classic Mode...

Details of my issue - Yosemite, 10.10.2 - IMAP Account

Same thing as everyone is mentioning...

The local folders at the top (specifically the sent folder) are showing the proper name of who I sent the email to. However the IMAP account sent folder is showing I sent the email to myself.

The weird thing is - I don't remember it being like this a few weeks ago?!

Is this an exchange issue?!

I loaded the IMAP account into two separate MacBooks - same issue on both...

PLEASE Help.
