A better way to find your attahcement -
1. Open Excel.
2. Click on 'File' on the top left of your screen.
3. Click the option of 'Open' or use shotrcut 'Command Key + O'
4. Click on the 'Drop Down Menu'. In that Menu you will always find the 'Outlook Temp' folder which would conatin your attachment.
I found my attachment this way..

Please post a screenshot to support your assertion that the Outlook Temp Folder always appears on the Excel File Open dialog:
This how it appears on my copy of Excel:
Note that there is no reference to Outlook Temp Files in the Drop Down Menu (contrary to your statement that it is "always there")
So open it on your machine, take a screenshot and post it here.
You totally rock- I thought hours of work were lost. By mistake I saved a word document I oppened from an Outlook attachment as a web page. It saved it to Outlook temp which I could not find....🙂

I just had this problem....an hour and a half later my wife came in and figurerd it out. Do not close outlook. If you have upgraded to Lion, the Library is no longer viewable. Very simple now!!
- open finder
- Go to the "GO" drop down menu and hold down the option key. (next to the command or apple key)
- The "Library" option will appear between the "Home" and "Computer" options in the same "GO" drop down menu
- Click on "Library" and you are in..then you will find "Cache" and then "temporaryitems" and Eureeka!!! The outlook temp folder is in there and your troubles are over!!!
Thanks,
This was kicking my a**. your post helped immediately!!!!
Yes I too would like to extend a huge Thank You for your great finding of this tricky hidden folder - I was starting to go a little crazy looking for it! Why on earth they have hidden it I do wonder?!
Kind Regards Lisa
Saved me 2 hours of work at 5am in the morning! Helpful!
Spotlight doesn't find them
Download a copy of EasyFind and look again, switch Hidden Files and Package Content on in EasyFind.
OMG, I love you!! you saved my file! I couldn't find it anywhere! so easy, thanks again, Lucy
I never post Discussions, but I am grateful for the help locating my file "lost" in an Outlook Temp file. I tried to find it on my own for an hour. Then I downloaded and used EasyFind (program from a company called Devon Technologies), it worked simply, instantly and brilliantly!! Thanks for the suggestion, I highly recommend this.
This is the one that saved me - thank you SO much! Took the suggestion from another post and dragged the darn Outlook Temp file to my Finder favorites so I don't have to look for it in the future.
Your wife deserves a medal. I was in danger of losing both something I had worked on and saved regularly for hours and my sanity.
Spotlight most definitely not find documents that are in this temporary folder.
I can see there are a few other documents that I worked on yesterday and had given up hope of ever seeing again. I thought I had a bug or was doing something wrong.
Now if only it is possible to stop anything ever being saved in that useless folder again.
Many, many thanks to your brilliant wife for solving it and to you for posting.
