iTunes 10.4 Blank iTunes Store Fix

I too had the blank iTunes Store window after downloading iTunes 10.4. This appears to be a widespread problem for 32 bit and 64 bit Windows 7 systems. There are several "simple" fixes that I found online that did not work for me and I absolutely refuse to pay Apple Support $50 for their help. The following solution worked for my 32 bit and 64 bit Windows 7 laptops. My solution was to downgrade the iTunes software. I uninstalled iTunes 10.4 and reinstalled iTunes 10.3. I did not backup my songs and I did not lose any songs. I learned that when you uninstall iTunes the database is backed up automatically and put in the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder. But if you are worried and want to be ultra safe go ahead and back it up yourself. Here are the steps to properly uninstall iTunes 10.4 and reinstall iTunes 10.3:

1. Go to Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall

2. Uninstall the following Apple programs in the following order:

a. iTunes

b. QuickTime

c. Apple Software Update

d. Apple Mobile Devices Support

e. Bonjour

f. Apple Appllcation Support

3. Reboot PC

4. Find, Download and Install iTunes 10.3 (you can find it at FileHippo.com)

If you start iTunes now you will get an error message saying that the current iTunes library was created by a newer version of iTunes. To correct this:

5. Go to your Music>iTunes folder and delete the "iTunes Library.itl" database file

6. Within this iTunes folder find and open the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and locate the most recently dated "iTunes Library (date).itl" database file.

7. Copy and Paste this file back into the iTunes folder

8. Rename this "iTunes Library (date).itl" file by removing the date. It should say "iTunes Library.itl"

9. Reboot PC

You are finished. Good Luck and I hope this helps.

Not sure when it started but I cannot access iStore or now iCloud on two of my home computers. On my laptop I just totally wiped all Apple programs and re-installed iTunes. Still cannot access the Store - just get a blank iTunes Store panel. These are Win7 machines and have tried directly through router. I think that Comcast is blocking the Store.

Any help will be much appreciated !

Thanks to bukifr my 10.3 works just fine. I'm staying with that version until I hear from the community that Apple has fixed this problem. Seems incredibly dumb to give users a product that doesn't allow them to make purchases, I must be missing something about how business is supposed to work. I. too, hope Apple fixes this but I'm not holding my breath.

HELP PLEASE - So I had used the old fix which was great, but STUPIDLY upgraded to 10.5 (I foolishly assumed Apple would have sorted this out!). Now the blank screen problem is back, and as Dr_Jon noted, this fix doens't work for 10.5.

I can't seem to reinstall the older version (tried 10.3) as I get an error message when I try restart after the restall that my ituneslibrary.dll file (or very similar) was created with a newer version.

I'm on XP and would REALLY appreciate any help with this. At present I'm buying on my ipad and then downloading via my computer - which is annoying.

Anyone upgraded and fixed the problem or know how to go back to the older version without too much drama please???

Many thanks!

Okay, I've made some progress. I've found with the latest iTunes the "netsh winsock reset" fix (run as an admin then reboot) sorted me out, in that I can now sync again and I have upgraded to iOS5. I don't know how long it will last, I did the sync as soon as I'd rebooted and before running much else up, but based on my experience I'd say worth trying...

Note my issue is the applemobiledeviceservice.exe running flat out (i.e. 100%/#CPUs processor activity, as is a single thread with the issue) and not being able to sync or upgrade my phone.

However it does worry me that it will nuke other things, so I'd use with care (!!!). If somebody does this it would be interesting to see a before and after on the catalogue, to see if any LSPs get nuked that might cause other problems, i.e.

netsh winsock show catalog > c:\before.txt

netsh winsock show catalog

netsh winsock show catalog > c:\after.txt

{reboot}

netsh winsock show catalog > c:\rebooted.txt

Excellent news - I found a link on another thread that worked - everything is up and running. Try this:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3372617

The advice by Japiohelp to run the netsh winsock reset command and then reboot worked a treat.

All the steps are in the thread, but if you a beginner like me then you open the command window by clicking on start, then run. Type 'cmd' (without the quote marks) in the box and the command window will open. Follow Japiohelp's advice and you might just find your store, and the ability to recognise your devices is, restored.

I did the exact same thing. Was having the same problem for iTunes 10.4 and fixed it. But foolishly updated to 10.5 to update my products to iOS5 and now I get the iTunes store blank page when I try to open it. So I am unable to sync (iphone and ipad) any of my devices because I cannot get on the iTunes store.

I am running xp on my pc laptop and would love for any advice on how to fix this problem so that I can upgrade and stop wasting my life on trying to figure this out....
