Apple Support Communities Governance Policies - Pointer Please

Hi - can anyone provide a link to the governance policies for Apple Support Communities? Yes, I mean the site we're on now: https://discussions.apple.com/

Many thanks.

I give up. The ToU is it as far as Apple's policies for the support communities are concerned at least publicly. That's all you are going to get. We don't have access to Apple's internal documents. I really don't understand what it is specifically you are looking for but they say that Apple can do anything they want to here and your only recourse if you don't like it is to leave. The rest are just guidelines.

laundry bleach - you've gone above and beyond.

i'm not going to pursue this topic any further. i'm troubled that's it's so difficult to discover this information (many publications have a masthead or an "about"), meaning:

- who's in charge?

- how are decisions made?

- what kinds of decisions are being made, anyway?

https://discussions.apple.com/ is not like an open source project with moderators who sooner or later, are still identifiable, accessible people (apache, eclipse, etc.).

it is something else, and i'd like to be more informed.

many thanks again to you.

There is an additional information page, referenced in the ToU (para 1.2) -

http://www.apple.com/legal/terms/site.html

Read the ToU thoroughly; they are fairly well written, and cover much of what you have asked. Lightly scanning them won't yield much.

In particular, the final paragraph (para 5.3) -

Apple reserves the right to delete any Submission, or take action against any account, at any time, for any reason.

The site moderators (who are currently called Hosts) are Apple employees. They are governed by Apple's general policies and probably departmental supplemental policies, all of which are none of our business. As in any corporation, everybody on the payroll has a supervisor of some kind; employee actions are reviewable by their supervisor. That, too, is none of our business.

This site, Apple Suppport Communities, is wholly owned by Apple. Although commercial non-Apple software is used to run the site, the site itself is proprietary to Apple. It is provided for us, users of Apple products, to use in accordance with the ToU applicable to this site. In that context we are guests.

what i'm after is any reference to this forum's governance policies that would resemble these: http://www.apache.org/foundation/bylaws.html.

I believe some of the (your) confusion is based on the fact that the by laws you are referencing are from a public organization. This website is Apple's private property and they are allowing us to use it to ask questions/share knowledge.

All the legal information, ToU's, ToS's, etc can be found on this page:

http://www.apple.com/legal/

You can obtain any further information from Apple; we are just users here.
