Why won't Apple bring back "Save As" since "Duplicate" clearly *****?
I think the question speaks for itself.
I think the question speaks for itself.
Not the spelling, the single quotation marks.
And really...missing the "n" is the only one of your errors you'll acknowledge?
The only "point" I'm looking for is your admission that you hold others to a higher standard than the one you apply to yourself.
After all, "its" the right thing for you to do.

Unlike Ford & GM (Chrysler too) Apple have not been the recipients of tax money for repeated bailouts and have not generally received the 'largesse' shown to the Auto industryNot sure what that has to do with marketing your products, or understanding what your customers want, but okay.
The point is that it enables you to ignore the demands of the market when the government picks up the slack.
I like single quotation marks, I use them for a non directly attributable quote (as in 'I heard it somewhere')
I make mistakes all the time, and I am happy to hear from you when I do, that way I can correct them.
Everyone who posts here has all the tools required to correct spelling errors, not using them is careless, and that includes me.
Finally this is not my first language, but I try hard to disguise that.
Carry on.

Great strategy! When no rule exists to justify your mistake, just make one up because you "like" it!

I'm happy to carry on. I hope everyone will remember, however, how this exchange got started.

That's better. I didn't get that out of the original comment, though it shouldn't have been that hard.
If I understand you correctly now, you're referring to the fact that the U.S. makers listened to the very small market of users who wanted house sized SUVs and Hummers, while ignoring the vast majority of users who wanted high mileage vehicles. Which of course hugely bit them in the posterior when people essentially stopped buying U.S. made vehicles and bought imports to get what they wanted.
I can't say Apple is doing something wrong on that front, and haven't. But they have been largely ignoring the users of their high end products who not just want, but need them.
Final Cut Pro X is a current, perfect example. I waited and waited for Apple to do something with DVD Studio Pro so I could author Blu-ray disks. Final Cut Pro X comes out with a virtually unchanged Compressor, and a slightly improved Motion. DVD SP? Not only not upgraded, but just plain ol' dropped. I gave up, sold my copy of FCP3 for two and half times more than I paid for it and got Adobe's Premiere Pro suite. Couldn't be happier. Does much more than FCS ever did, and does it far better.
You can see this across almost the entire line of Apple's pro products. Mac Pro, Logic, Final Cut, etc. All of these products have been getting the short shrift. I sure hope Apple starts paying attention to the needs of the people that kept them in business for so long soon.

I'm happy to emphasise that for you, one 'Pendant' to another. 🙂

I tried with Lion, I really tried but I've hit too many problems, most recently a major issue with one particular application that just freezes and beachballs every time I try to use it.
I may never be back.
In any case this thread seems to have degenerated to the point of being completely useless. This is largely thanks to Yvan, who trivialises and personalises everything and is living confirmation of the widely-held belief that the French are rude.
So don't bother with your reply, Yvan, because I'm gone.
Snow Leopard rocks !

Hey now... none of that. I'm not going to comment one way or the other with respect to Yvan's posts, however, generalizations like that don't have any place here. If you feel a specific person's comments are rude, by all means, call them out on it.... but don't use that as a basis to judge a whole country. Prejuduce is prejudice be it black, white, Indian, Asian, British, German, American, Russian, etc.
Yeah, it's not the French in general, it's just Yvan.
Let's say I decided to update your pencil by placing the eraser at the end of a long string which jutted out from the rear. What functionality would be missing? None. But I would have inserted a huge annoyance into your life for no good reason.
That is a great metaphor. I just got done scanning a lot of documents, and in order to change the names of them to meaningful ones I had to 1. Duplicate. 2. Unlock (for some reason they were all 'locked') 3. Save. 4. Close the original. 5. Delete the original.
It's HORRIBLE.
The problem was not the app bu you.
There was no need to open the dopcs to rename them and/or unlock them.
Unlocking a file may be done from the infos Window.
Renaming may be done from the Finder.
The rulen with Lion is that documents which weren't open during the late 10 days (from memory) is automatically locked to protect it from erroneous/accidental changes/deletions.

That can be changed. Minimum one day, maximum one year. Time Machine preferences.

You're obviously unaware but the reason for grammatical rules is to ensure accurate communication. Screwing up the language is comparable to screwing up computer protocol. You shouldn't expect results when you do that.
