Sandisk compatibility issue with Mac OS X v10.7
I upgraded to Mac OS X v10.7 and it appears my Sandisk Cruzer Titanium USB flash drive isn’t recognized (no desktop icon). However, it shows up in System Information. 😕

Have two SanDisk cruzer 8GB (retail) sticks here that respectively have Lion and Mountain Lion installers on them (via Lion DiskMaker). Both worked fine for clean installs on two different Macs, and still properly function when needed.
Where do I find DiskMaker in Mountain Lion, or do I need to download it? I'm only 1 week old when it comes to using Macs. 25 years of Windows to be unlearnt...
The process is to [re]download the Mountain Lion installer from the App Store. This is a huge download and will take considerable time on lower speed Internet connections. It will get written into your /Applications folder as “Install OS X Mountain Lion.app” which you should not run, as it will remove itself afterwards. Lion DiskMaker expects this application presence and uses it in the process of building bootable installer media. If you have no plan to upgrade your machine, you can drag the installer to the Trash (and remove it) or move it to another drive for safe keeping.
You should realize that installation from the new media (USB stick, DVD) created by Lion DiskMaker is not an upgrade, but rather a wipe the disk with new installation process. I would recommend a 16GB USB stick moving forward.
