effects on clips

Hi there,

I realize that I did something in my project that makes adding to both ends of the clips the effects that I am choosing to include at the begining of the clips.

Can anyone please tell me what I have done wrong ?

Thanks in advance

OK David,

Sorry for my lack of clarity ....it is not your coffee....although....

OK, When I want to add an effect at the begining of a clip in a sequence that contains several clips, I select the effect for example an effect for fade, it is included at the begining of the clip in the timeline where I want, but it is also appearing at the end of the clip....same effect ! like a duplicate of the effect I selected to be at the begining, without me selecting this effect to be also at the end of the clip...

Is that better ? or should I send you an another expresso ????

Hope you can help as you did so many times, without needing a coffee....

I wish I could speak a better english....it is sometimes SO difficult ! and so frustrating ...

Thanks in advance

Ivan

You can trust me, this is not something you can discuss with me. I am an expert on espresso history and preparation.

Misspellings, in any quantity, do not constitute acceptable alternative spellings. It is "espresso." It is not expresso, regardless of mispronunciation that has led to incorrect spelling. You looked in all the wrong places. Try homebarista.com or any qualified professional espresso service provider such as wholelattelove.com or espressonorthwest.com; you can even use the Wiki for the term for accurate information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Espresso.

It's similar to the commonly used but terribly inaccurate quote of Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address: "Four score and seven years ago, our forefathers..." It is not "forefathers," it's just "fathers." Trying to correct this misperception can get you into fights.

Expresso has come into popular usage because the ignorant assume the preparation method is fast. This is incorrect. The exact origin of the term is lost in the murky history of commercial coffee brewing machinery but it appears on a poster in Italy during a pre-World War I industrial fair. It is thought to come from the romanticized application of the idea that the coffee is prepared especially -- or expressly -- for the individual who is ordering it instead of being poured from a stale carafe or overheated pot. While complex and requiring highly specialized equipment, the process of creating wonderful espresso is easily mastered assuming you have access to the necessary tools and, of course, to fabulous coffees.

Applying a FADE in Motion will do this. Are you in FCP or Motion?

Since ver 7, I've been able to drag a FCP transition (like fade in fade out dissolve) onto a clip and it appear on both ends of the clip.

You can drop the effect on just the front, just the back or front and back simultaneously depending on where your mouse cursor is...if you want the effect on both ends of the clip, drag to the center of the clip and the clip "highlights" (dark outline around the entire clip).User uploaded file If effect is wanted only on front or back, move mouse to front or back until highlighted area shows the portion of the clip getting the effect.

just a simple transition from FCP ....

And herein lies the problem. It is NOT a "simple transition" at all. This is the unique "Fade In Fade Out Dissolve" available under Dissolves, as John King notes in his attached screen grabs. If you had been just a wee more explicit in the first post, we'd have been all over it.

My thanks again to John for being able to discern llvom's needs.

Hi John,

Thanks a lot for your reply, and for being able to" discern Ilovm's needs" (accroding to David Bogie Chq-1).

Actually my needs will be extending a little beyond your reply, without willing to take advantage of your kindness (is that said properly ?)

indeed...when I open the thread on my MacBookPro, the images that you have included mask a part of the text...

Any possibility to do it again ? or must I try to guess what was below the images by having a close look on them ?

Thanks in advance, and I am glad that you could help me.

Well well, it is true that french is a langage per se. With its own words, originating from other langages. And in french, we use expresso. Not a misuse, not a mispselling, just became a french word ...

see what follows for example:

Hope (sure) you can read that french !

By the way I have seen and heard when I lived in the US that the american langage is full of "french" words which have also been "americanized"

Not a unique particular feature of french.

OK then, "espresso" is italian. I lived long enough in Italy to know about "espresso" . And I also love espresso made in an expresso machine such as Nespresso ....becomes a little tricky now....

Thanks for your reply.

By the way the effect was added in FCP and I replied to your other comment regarding "my needs" in a reply to John.

Have a nice day...
