AOL Desktop for Mac has placed 5 untitled mail windows on the dock.

I too had the same problem. Here is the solution.

Go to System Preferences and select General.

Near the bottom of the window, deselect (uncheck) "Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps."

Launch AOL Desktop, you'll still see the untitled windows. No problem. Now quit AOL and relaunch. No more untitled windows.

Thanks SBA-Mac...I am having the same problem. Tried your solution a number of times but didn't work for me. Does anyone else have any ideas please?

You need to lock the Saved Application State folder for AOL Desktop - this will shut down the AOL software's access to that Lion feature and get rid of all those annoying untitled windows (we had 13 before I found this solution).

Details on how to do this are in an article @ CNET. You want to follow the instructions under #2 "Turn off the Resume feature for a specific application" to lock the AOL folder.

Here's the solution for all of you

Uninstall AOL desktop, never put it back.

While I never use it, and agree with you in principle, my wife won't live without it.

Thus a solution had to be found, and I managed to locate one. And she's happy now 😀

SBA-MAC's solution worked immediately for me. This occurred long ago and more pages kept popping up (usually if I ran out of patience and stopped an email download), but I hadn't bothered researching a solution unitl now. You've just saved me a daily minor irritation. Thanks!
