I'm trying to set up a home share with my Apple ID but every time I type in my ID and password I get the message "Home Sharing could not be activated because the username or password was incorrect." Obviously it isn't, because I'm posting this as we speak, and I'm logged in to the iTunes store with this account. I've even tried deauthorizing all the computers I have set up, reauthoritzing them, then trying again, to no avail. What is going on here?

I've got exactly the same problem.  Half way through watching a programme on my apple TV home sharing dropped out.  I couldn't sign back in, although I could sign into my iTunes account.  I have tried rebooting the network, my apple tv and my mac but it hasn't made any difference.  In the end I had to copy the programme to my iPad and play it from there (for some reason the iPad was still connected to the home sharing network.

The articles provided in the response above don't deal with this problem.

Thought I was going mad. Everything worked fine yesterday. Bought a new ipad today. Tried to set up home sharing and it said my password was incorrect. Swtiched off home sharing on the Mac then went to switch it on again and it now tell me my passord is wrong when I know absoultly it is right as it let me acces the main itunes account. Has some bcakground update been done that is effecting everyone?

Let’s hope that whatever the Issue is, is resolved quickly for all concerned...

It would also be interesting to know if this issue is affecting both Mac and Windows users...

    Dear All,

I have bought my Apple TV2 today and wanted to set it up.

Everything went well until the point where I needed to set up the Home Sharing.

I had the same issue as everyone else here.

Then I went and checked the Home Sharing on my iMac and that was not working as well.

I have spent at least two hours to troubleshoot and fix the issue but finally I gave it up as it seems it is not on our end.

In addition I have tried to set up Home Sharing on my iPhone and iPad as well - the same story.

I think Apple must have screwed up somewhere, because this issue seems to be a global issue preventing every users to use Home Sharing.

I do not know to whom we should address this - because now my new device is useless and was a waste of money, thanks to Apple.

Any thoughts and advices from anyone?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best Regards,

    Laszlo
