iLife 06 works with G3?

Hi all,

I notice that the system requirements for iLife 06 are a G4 or better, but can it still be installed on a 400mhz G3? Or does the installer not allow it to continue?

No! It won't install.

Thanks for letting me know! No need to yell! Is there?! 🙂

It's a shame though. I would be willing to put up with the slowness on a G3 just to be able to use it.

yep it can work on a G3 ( rev A iMac), but very slowly - (not useful at all)
install onto a conforming system ( I used a G4) , copy the app over ( 650 MB) probably ought to Archive ( zip) first
I did this just to see if it could.
the iMac is pretty slow and has only 384 MB RAM, so really I probably need lots of RAM

I got iPhoto (from iLife 06) to work on my G3 by copying it from my desktop G4.

But no luck with any of the other applications.

And no luck using Pacifist to do the install.

ILife installed and runs just fine on my 450 MHz G4, but won't install and won't run on my 1 GHz G3, which runs every other application much faster than my G4.

What is wrong with the picture?

Do you suppose I can get my money back on my Family Pack?

With regards to the family pack, there are requirements for some of the apps, see here.

I suspect that Apple will just say dont do a complete install on the G3, just the parts that will work.......
