Very disappointed that Lion is causing major problems with disable students assistive software in the UK. Software suppliers are not issuing patches/upgrades until 2012. Totally unacceptable attitude from Apple in ignoring disabled customers

This is going to affect a large number of disabled UK students as patches and upgrades for the specialist software are not due for release until late 2011/early 2012.

Only options they have is to revert to Snow leopard, defficult as Apple have even recall resellers stock and upgraded it to Lion.

I am contacting the UK educational funding bodies with a view to suspending purchasing of all Apple equipment until such time as the situation has resolved itself.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.1)

I've been an Apple user since the first Mac SE was released into Australia in the 80s. I have also always had a PC and the Apple wins hands down every time. BUT I do emphasise with thirdmatefromgreat yarmouth and the frustrations he is having. I am certainly no computer IT/programmer whizkid, but in my experience just about every time Apple launches an upgrade it means headache time sorting out new drivers, patches or whatever they are called just to be able to continue to run software that you have paid big bucks for. Invariably it's another 24 - 48hrs trying to get your computer back to any sort of resemblance to how it was operating before the brilliant new software upgrade. I literally have no hair left this past week because of the 10.6.8 upgrade. I stupidly (you would think that I would have woken up by now) selected to download and install the new 10.6.8 software after my Software Updater prompted to do so. HUGE MISTAKE!!! COSTLY MISTAKE!! My Adobe Creative Suite won't load and I'm having trouble printing with some applications. Of course Murphy's Law states that up until now it has been quiet workwise but now that I can't run my software the work comes in. So I call Apple and they say to call Adobe to see if they have written any software to fix the fault. Adobe's solution is easy, buy the latest Adobe Creative Suite package as it works fine even with Lion. Yes that's any easy solution, find $2500.00 in a few days for an upgrade, when I didn't have the need to upgrade a couple of weeks ago. Adobe must rub their hands together every time Apple does a system upgrade.

Well at least you admit it was your mistake. It never ceases to amaze me that users who rely on their computer systems for their income are so cavalier about installing upgrades and patches without so much as a thought about the possible implications. Your business relies on having a stable, working system. Simple research would have alerted you to the issue that shut you down. If I were a potential customer and knew about your inattention to such matters I would certainly think twice about doing business with you. I'm sorry but there's little to sympathize with in your plight.

You did this without a backup?
