iPhoto doesn't recognize pictures on card / already imported pictures

Hi all,

iPhoto '09 (latest version) on my wife's MBP (CoreDuo, early 2006, latest Snow Leopard) has always worked well for het (about 35,000 pix in the database). Last week, out of a sudden, it stopped recognizing new images when a card is plugged in (tested with two different SD cards from two different cameras). Manual importing works, but it won't recognize already imported images anymore, it just imports them again.

I already re-built iPhoto's database (by holding alt + cmd when starting up iPhoto), but it didn't change anything.

This is really strange - can anyone help us here?

Have you tried deleting preferences or running Image Capture directly?

See above - yes, I renamed com.apple.iphoto.plist, but this didn't help. What exactly do you mean with running Image Capture directly?
