After upgrading to Lion and switching Mail to the classic mode, I can no longer see if messages have attachment in my Send Box. However, I can go into the message and see the attachment.
Strangely, all my messages prior to the upgrade show their attachments.
I've looked through the preferences and don't see a swith for this.
Any suggestions. Thanks.

I have found that rebuilding the Sent mailbox (Mailbox > Rebuild) also gets the paperclip icons back.
Oh, and if you want to automate iBiM's above workaround so that all new sent messages retain their paperclips, Indev's $24.95 Mail Act On software allows you to automatically apply rules to outgoing mail.

I've been using Mail Act On under Snow Leopard for years and it's a wonderful piece of software. However, I haven't yet installed it under Lion (I only moved to Lion yesterday, forced there by the imminent closure of MobileMe). So, as always, I'd recommend downloading the Mail Act On trial version and testing it before spending the $24.95.

This only worked on one message for me and then stopped working 😟
Upgraded to Lion and now Mail does not show attachments in the Send Box (for new messages only).
