Is your Mac out of warranty? If not then take it to an Apple Store for help. An Authorized Apple Repair service technician is a far better bet for diagnostics and repair of your Mac. These are the people specifically trained to deal with Mac issues.
No its not out of warranty- I have GeekSquad warranty.
My only option is to take it to BestBuy so they can repair it.
Its not really a major problem, downgraded to snow leopard, internet doesnt work anymore.
Personally I'd stay as far away from Best Buy as I could and would never let them touch any of my Apple products. I would also make an appointment at the closest Apple Store. You can use the Apple Authorized Service Provider Locator link to locate one and set up an appointment.
I take it that you bought it at BestBuy and paid for their extended warranty plan. In that case make them earn their money; go talk to them and find out what they suggest.
Ditto for what rkaufmann87 said.
Don't take your Mac to a Best Buy for repairs.
What happens when you try to connect to the internet? Maybe we can help you with that.
Connects fine, Hardware is VERIFIED (not failing, or failed) Just doesn't open internet, internet doesn't work at all on my iMac
And basically BestBuy is my only option, why are you saying not to let them repair it?
Connects fine but internet doesn't work? I'm sorry, I'm confused.
Have you checked System Preferences - Network - Assist Me - Diagnostics?
BestBuy has a poor reputation for repairing Macs. They are more geared for PC's.
Me too (confused I mean), are you trying to connect via Wi-Fi or Ethernet? Can you say tell us what happens when you try to connect to a web site like www.Google.com, what shows up on the screen?
It connects to my internet Network and it has the full signal sign on the top the 4 bars.
Did you try Diagnostics as I suggested?
It connects to my internet Network and it has the full signal sign on the top the 4 bars.
That's your Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi,
Webpage doesnt load..
OR it sometimes says you are not connected to the internet.
Safari? Firefox?
Do you have anti virus software installed?
Diagnosts are like network settings: failed, isp: failed, internet: failed, server: failed
airport: Green success
airport settings: green success
Thats my updated news^
Carolyn,
I'm going to bow out, you have this one under control.
Safari , no anti virus downloaded/set up
