Gotcha, i'll turn off the iMac, unplug router for 5 minutes, plug it back in and turn on iMac
Ok...
The sequence I'd recommend is:
1. Shut down the iMac.
2. Unplug the modem for about 30 seconds then do a hard button reset on it.
3. Unplug the router and do a reset on it too.
4. Plug the modem back in and let it fully boot.
5. Plug the router back in and let it fully boot too.
6. Restart the iMac in Safe Mode following the instructions in Apple's Newsletter
7. Try to connect open any web page like www.Google.com and see what happens.
I went to network > DNS and under DNS servers there was no numbers there.
But I can try that.
Please leave the DNS settings alone for now. Please do exactly what I recommended in my last post. You need to be systematic and not jumping all over the place.
I can't try that at the moment, i'm not near my router/modem at the moment, but i'll try it tomorrow morning and post back my results.
Thanks for the help. Things are so complicated sometimes 😉.
OK, I'll be looking for your update.
Ok thanks so much.
P.S I won't let bestbuy try to repair my iMac 😉
Lol.
Actually Best Buy sends them to Apple. I had a problem with a new 21.5 iMac Intel based machine. The display back light board was bad after only a month. I took it back to the Best Buy store where I bought it. Best Buy sent it to Apple-no problems, working fine now.
Little confused, restarted router while iMac was off. (just router) Let it boot up, turned iMac on,
and the internet worked.
That just means the router needed to be reset. It sounds like the problem has been solved.
Suppose so.
I tried doing a clean install of Lion OS and when it was almost finished it cancels itself.
Any idea?
No and I think you should leave well enough alone. The systems that tend to have the most trouble are systems where users are messing around with them and they have no clue what they're doing. In other words they're fixing something that isn't broken. Just leave it alone and let it run.
I gotta install Lion os and this is the only way for me to do so.
I tried 2 times but at the end when it's almost finished it cancels it self.
Hello,
Glad to see you got your internet problem figured out. Try erasing your Macintosh HD (backup first) Then re-install a copy of Lion (command+R). Post your results.
