I agree. Loss of Homepage support was a bad idea. Read my post in the Topic "iPhoto5 and iPhoto6 on the same machine". It is an easy work around if you want to use some of the new features of iPhoto 6, but still use Homepage for photo publsishing. You will need access to another drive with an alternate (or backup OS of Tiger) to install the older iPhoto 5 or 4.
It is still possible to keep using 'Home Page Photo publishing'. It is not an easy workaround, but if you really like the feature, do the following.
1. First make a droplet form an action im ImageReady, which resizes to images to 800 pixels (default .mac size) width (the height will change accordingly the pixel ration form you camera).
2. Make an input and an output folder on your desktop for source and destination of your pictures.
3. Go your iDisk and find the folder 'Pictures'- 'Photo Album Pictures'
4. Make a folder there and save your 800 pixels width images there
5. Go to 'HomePage' via your .mac account
6. Select AddPage in the menu
7. choose your theme
8. Select the flder from which you want to pblish your pictures
9. Edit titles and names.
10. Then hit 'publish'
11. After these steps alle normale things are possible, such as repositioning your album.
So, all features are still ther to use it all.....
I am very diasppointed in iPhoto 6. On one hand it has some great new features and is lightning fast on my dual processor G5. Unfortunately, I have over 50 albums with hundreds of photos on HomePage which I can no longer publish to. I sorely need a way to continue to publish to HomePage with iPhoto 6 or, at least, give me a way to convert all my old HomePage albums to iWeb.
I'm so glad I found commaradarie in this thread. I just fired off an angry feedback to Apple. I'm shocked! Extremely disappointed. I have tons of stuff on homepage.mac and all of a suddened, what!, it's all orphaned?!!
Does Apple read these threads. I can't believe this is considered acceptible. Someone must have screwed up.
Any news from Apple about this?
Also, why does iWeb republish the entire site everytime you make a change?! It takes forever. Is there anyway around this?
I totally agree that this egregious error must be corrected by Apple and I too have written to them to express my displeasure. I trust that all the dissatisfied users in this forum have done likewise. It is only with the power of the group that we will get a reversal in this "stupid" and more importantly, uncalled for revision.
