playing a quicktime file on dvd player

Hi..hope someone can help. I have a 695 MB movie that is in quicktime (.avi) and want to watch it on my dvd player. How can I accomplish this. I have popcorn software. thanks

powerbook, Mac OS X (10.4.4)

okay..I want to thank all of you who replied to help me. I've finally accomplished this task. I encoded the .avi file with ffmegx to a .mov file. Then I imported the file to idvd. This seemed to work. Sorry I didn't understand the process but thanks for hanging in there and being patient. thanks again to all!
