mouse cursor disappears

OS: Mac OS X 10.7.1

Hardware: MacBook Pro (2010), BlueTooth keyboard and mouse (both Apple brand) Magic Mouse

Applications: Any - mostly see this on Safari

Symptoms: I will be navigating with the mouse, clicking on a link if I'm in Safari or perhaps clicking on a word that I want to edit in BBEdit, doesn't really matter what app. The mouse cursor disapears. I have to move the mouse around in large circular motions several times to get the mouse cursor back. Sometimes I have to push the mouse off the edge of the screen for it to show up again. If there is a control on the page that has a mouse hover event (perhaps a flash window or something in HTML???) then the control will respond to that event by high lighting or displaying a tooltip. During all of this the mouse cursor is still invisible.

I'm aware that the mouse cursor will disappear when I start typing (like right now), and it will re-appear if I simply nudge the mouse. The problem that I'm seeing however is when the mouse cursor disappears without touching the keyboard, usually following a mouse click, then it won't re-appear quickly. It can take several seconds - sometimes 5 - 10 seconds of moving the mouse before it re-appears.

Has anybody else seen this, or know what might be causing it?

Same problem to me, going active corners, Mission Control or Expose turns it visible.

So I know this is a lion discussion but I too am having this problem with Mountain Lion. Gaoxiong mentioned Command Tab to get the cursor to reappear but I agree that this is not a solution. I agree with Sean Wolter the same (using "show colors", etc.) happens when using Numbers under OSX Mountain Lion. Solution: same as Sean suggests... hold down COMMAND-TAB.

Apple have to look into this. Macs are great, but for their price and level of standards this is just not acceptable.

I have this same problem, have reported it to Apple, restart my machine now and then(not gonna do it every time the cursor disappears, as that is just assinine) and it still occurs quite sporadically. The one thing that I found right off the bat, as opposed to pushing key combinations, is that when my cursor disappears, i just take my finger on the trackpad and move it around rather quickly back and forth and that always brings the cursor back. Not a great solution, but it works. The only acceptable solution is for Apple to FIX THIS and that is the only solution. I agree, when you pay $1000 or two for a laptop, things like this should NOT be an issue and should be resolved quickly and not have to have users droning on on a support forum about how this is still a problem and how it should get fixed... Pretty sad.
