MacBook Pro EFI 2.2 Update Problem

I just downloaded the EFI 2.2 update for my MacBook Pro and everything seemed to go fine. When my MacBook restarted the keyboard and trackpad were completely unresponsive. I held the power button down to turn it off, then I restarted it. Nothing happened. What should I do?

Had the same problem with my MBP 13 early 2011.

Installed efi 2.2 and got all that black screens, dashed lines of all the colors.

Did everything to study the problem and found out that my problem only appears when i give a good

"workout" for my dual core and graphics.

I used smcfancontrol and made a video encoding with handbrake. as soon as the temp was close to 91 celcium i got a blackscreen.

The only thing that worked for me was manual cooling - i used the gel ice blocks and put it under the laptop)))

And manual tuning the fan to alltime 6200 rpm also helped sometimes but not for long.

Here in Russia we dont have any genius, any phone help, no apple stores,

so you have to be creative)

Today i found this discussion and first i tried to reinstall the 2.2 update (with an ice block of course))

I had a succes. After that i got black screen again.

I made an update to 2.3 efi and thunerbolt.

Its already 2 hours of good work. Tried to get the blackscreen, made the encoding, did a lot of multitask operations. The temp was about 100 celcium, no manual fan tuning.

Still no problems.

Will let you now if the situation changes.

"You need to press ctrl alt shift and the on/off button for 1 second and after that turn it on again, and make sure there is nothing plugged into your mac exept the power cord."

I can't thank you enough for this tip, betagames nl! After I installed some Logitech mouse software, my MB 'lost' the built-in keyboard and trackpad (did not show in USB device tree), leaving me pretty hopeless for a couple of hours until I found your tip....

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

So: while installing the update, the status bar stopped around ninety percent, and the text was "moving locations". It didn't move from that for about an hour, so perhaps foolishly, I shut my MacBook pro down. Upon restart, it stays at the white screen. When trying what you did by holding "command S" at startup, but was unsuccessful or did it wrong. Is there any hope?
