Looking for how to disable conversations - not turn it off mailbox by mailbox.
Not only do I find it irritiating, but it groups unrelated emails in the same conversation.

Uncheck View->Organize By Conversaion
If you go to viewing in the preferences window and uncheck EVERYTHING under "viewing conversations" that should do the trick.

Some idiot at Apple thinks they know how we need to organize… fire them.
All of my boxes under View Conversations are unchecked. I am still viewing in conversations. URGGH!
I used to get it turned off and it would just come back for no reason. I would miss emails because they were bunched under a thread. Now I can not turn it off at all. This has been since the last update.
Look under the View option in the tool bar at the top and uncheck the "converstions" option.
