10.0.1 vignette bug

10.0.1 seems incredibly unstable and buggy, I thought it was meant to resolve these issues?

One big problem I'm having is that I've applied a vignette effect to a clip on the secondary timeline. Now any time I go near this clip, FCPX crashes. This has obviously rendered the project entirely unusable, which is a big problem, particularly if 10.0.2 doesn't come along for a few more months.

I tried opening an old project which shouldn't have the new file in it and therefore shouldn't be a problem but despite being a day older and therefore unable to have this new file, the old project is identical when you open it up in FCP, so potentially something going on there as well?

I'm running a brand new macbook pro i7 in lion, so the issue won't be a lack of graphics support.

Remove the vignette, let it render if nessisary. Replace it.

It could also be that clip. What format is it? Does it crash if you manipluate the clip without the vignette?

Is this the stock FCP X vignette or a custom made one?

I'm using the Vignette and not having problems.

I know many folks have had to reset FCP X.0.1 due to small bugs by using Digital Rebellion's free app Preference Manager to trash the FCP X preferences, and that seems to fix a lot of things.

No solutions but so far I have similar problems with vignette and radial blur. Other effects (didn't try them all) go well. I am just using the effects that came with FCPX (so no third party), I am testing/learning FCP10.0.1. trial

Problem can be reproduced:

a. on imported events from iMovie,

b. direct imported clips from camera (HD-tape) into FCPX

c. Imported stills (photo's)

Tried three different project using clips coming from a,b, or c.

(That's what I tried so far)

Preferences have been trashed, Render-files deleted.

Removing the effects cann't be done other than delete the clip from the project.

The effect plays fine but cannot be adjusted (opening the info panel will always cause a crash).

Video properties:

Apple ProRes 422, 1440x1080 (1920x1080), Millions

24 bit integer (Little Endian), 5,1 (L,R,C LFE Ls Rs), 48000 khz.

Bps: 25

I am running OS 10.6.8. on a Mac Pro 1,1 2x2 Ghz dual Core Intel Xenon with the ATY Radon 5770 graphic card (1Gb )

Hmm- vignettes are working fine for me. Can you give some more details- like what is the format of the clip- is it HD/1080p/24p, etc? And is this on a project you had applied the vignette in 10.0.0 first? What happens when you delete the vignette entirely and drag a new vignette onto the clip? What happens when you create a new project add in the media that's having this issue and then apply the vignette?

enamic,

Thanks for the update. This thread more or less continued in this thread:

We did quite some work to get this sorted out. I have had extensive contact with the support team.Your solution was mentioned already in that thread.

Simply forgot to mention this solution over here. Sorry for that 😊

Problem is not just an issue of removing the vignette. I don't even want it, I was just playing with the effects. Everytime I go near the clip whether it is the properties, hovering over, whatever, final cut crashes completely. It's the stock FCP vignette, the file format is prores and I can manipulate the clip without the vignette.

Resetting the preferences is a good shout though, hopefully this should do the job. Will report back.

Sorry, still learning here and a little confused. I'd love to delete the vignette entirely, but the only method I know is to drag it out of the effects in the inspector, or click reset in the vignette settings(inspector) but the inspector absolutely does not want anything to do with this clip. I also right clicked the clip, but I don't see anything there about the clips effects. Is there another method I am missing?

The video is 1080p 30

The project originated in 10.0.1

Haven't tried creating a new project and adding media yet. I will try deleting the clip from the sequence and replacing it with the raw clip.....

Thanks....

PS: Same issue with projects originating in FCPX 10.0.1 and several that are imported iMovie projects.....
