10.0.1 vignette bug

Remove the vignette, let it render if nessisary. Replace it.

It could also be that clip. What format is it? Does it crash if you manipluate the clip without the vignette?

Is this the stock FCP X vignette or a custom made one?

I'm using the Vignette and not having problems.

I know many folks have had to reset FCP X.0.1 due to small bugs by using Digital Rebellion's free app Preference Manager to trash the FCP X preferences, and that seems to fix a lot of things.

Same problem here with vignette effect. Related to the inspector. If it is open and I select the clip with the vignette, FCPX crashes.

Also noticed the same bug with some transitions. If I select the transition while Inspector is open(or select, then open inspector) FCPX closes immediately.

Deleting pref's did not work for me.

It could be a problematic render file; try deleting all your render files for the project in question. That will force the effect to re-render.

I had the crash as well.

what worked was – deleting the Final Cut Trial X application file. redownloading the trial and reinstalling it. Vignette now works and is editable.

No solutions but so far I have similar problems with vignette and radial blur. Other effects (didn't try them all) go well. I am just using the effects that came with FCPX (so no third party), I am testing/learning FCP10.0.1. trial

Problem can be reproduced:

a. on imported events from iMovie,

b. direct imported clips from camera (HD-tape) into FCPX

c. Imported stills (photo's)

Tried three different project using clips coming from a,b, or c.

(That's what I tried so far)

Preferences have been trashed, Render-files deleted.

Removing the effects cann't be done other than delete the clip from the project.

The effect plays fine but cannot be adjusted (opening the info panel will always cause a crash).

Video properties:

Apple ProRes 422, 1440x1080 (1920x1080), Millions

24 bit integer (Little Endian), 5,1 (L,R,C LFE Ls Rs), 48000 khz.

Bps: 25

I am running OS 10.6.8. on a Mac Pro 1,1 2x2 Ghz dual Core Intel Xenon with the ATY Radon 5770 graphic card (1Gb )

Hmm- vignettes are working fine for me. Can you give some more details- like what is the format of the clip- is it HD/1080p/24p, etc? And is this on a project you had applied the vignette in 10.0.0 first? What happens when you delete the vignette entirely and drag a new vignette onto the clip? What happens when you create a new project add in the media that's having this issue and then apply the vignette?

Vignette seems rock solid to me.

What are the details of your clip. 1080p30 says nothing. Open it in the QT player and report exactly what it says in the movie inspector.

I never use the Vignette effect. I do this with Color Correction, maybe fix this your problem.

Sorry, still learning here and a little confused. I'd love to delete the vignette entirely, but the only method I know is to drag it out of the effects in the inspector, or click reset in the vignette settings(inspector) but the inspector absolutely does not want anything to do with this clip. I also right clicked the clip, but I don't see anything there about the clips effects. Is there another method I am missing?

The project originated in 10.0.1

Haven't tried creating a new project and adding media yet. I will try deleting the clip from the sequence and replacing it with the raw clip.....

Use the shape mask to make a soft edged oval darken the outside of the mask.
