My apple tv recently started showing only Internet, Computers and Settings as options

This would be a network issue. Try rebooting the device first, possibly the router too.

I am having a similar problem. Sometimes it will show itunes and netflix, but if I try to access them, it will return to the same screen you described. I haven't figured it out yet either.

Like I said this would be a network issue. Try rebooting first. If on wifi try ethernet to rule out interference.

To fix this on mine, I updated my time zone from Cupertino to Vancouver and reselected my language. Not sure which of those two were responsible for restoring my AppleTV main menu.

I just made those same two fixes but it didn't help. All it shows for me as options are "Computers" and "Settings". Changing location and language did nothing. This happened right after I upgraded to the latest 5.0 (4099) software. ***?

I'm having the same issue as cwalker123. The ATV3 has been working great but I'm only seeing Computer and Settings, even with it connected via ethernet. I've run the network test a few times and it isn't coming back with any problems. I've tried the possible solutions posted thus far, and nothing has worked.

I had the same problem, I disconnected the ethernet connection and set it up wirelessly and it worked.

I have now plugged the ethernet cable back in and it's still running.

I figured it out...I was blocking iTunes via OpenDNS at my router so it couldn't see the store! User error.

Check to make sure you aren't blocking that category of content via your router (OpenDNS can do this without you realizing it)

I had the loss of Internet after updating to 5.0.

Only Computers and Settings are available.

I tried through Ethernet cable, manual settings of the IP addresses etc. but no result. still only Computers and settings.

It communicates with internet for Home sharing etc. Checking the network through ATV is happening. Only problem is "internet " option is not visible.

I have not changed any settongs in the wifi router during this process. The same ATV was working with all 3 options before update. will the update do any changes to WIFI Router in blocking DNS etc?

Any advice will be ok.

Doing a restore was the only thing that would fix mine. Btw, I had two of my appletv's do the same thing on the same day. So I don't believe this is a network issue. It's a problem with the appletv software. If it was a network issue then the restore would not have fixed the problem.

I just had this happen after using Airplay on my iPad 2 to AppleTV2.

Straight afterwards I could only access "Computer" and "Settings" on the AppleTV2...

After trying all the suggestions here, I finally had to to restore to get it working properly again.

Definately a bug in the software somewhere. Hope they fix it soon....

All worked well after using restore for about 5 minutes and then as soon as I tried to turn on iTunes match was back to just "Computers" and "Settings" again....

Very annoying .....

I hope they sort out this glitch soon.

I reported this issue of loss of internet after updating the software to 5.0 in Apple TV.

I tried all the simple and logical things like restart, reset, reboot, check the router etc.

after all my trial i refered it to my IT guys.

When they checked the router setup , they found that the DNS server Address as same as the Router IP Address.

Then they said that the DNS Server address should be the IP address of the ISP .

I changed the DNS Server IP Address to the ISP (internet Service Provider).

Immediately every thing became OK. Apple TV is not showing internet as the Router is not connected to the internet.

Now i have a fantastic screen with all the Interent options in the form of icons. Therefore instead of playing with the Apple TV settings pl check the wifi router settings for the DNS address. once this set correctly in the router everything becomes easy.

Pl check the wifi router's IP address and ISP's DNS server address. It should be different. The software 5.0 update writes the same address in the Router's IP and DNS IP and Apple TV.

This solved my problem after one week of trial. this info must be helpfull to many.
