My apple tv recently started showing only Internet, Computers and Settings as options

Can somebody give me plain english instructions on how to fix this?

Mac Mini

Airport Extreme

My ATV2 is hooked up via Wi-fi - it's sitting right next to the Airport Extreme. I've tried relogging onto the Wi-Fi - I've tried uplugging the power twice (because I don't see a "reboot" option anywhere in the menus) which hasn't helped.

I can access the internet fine from every other device (including an iPad 1 & and iPad 3), including iTunes on my Mac Mini.

I like using mac stuff because most of the time it just works - if I wanted to get into the arcane nitty gritty network stuff, I'd be using a windows machine.

Resetting my ATV3 and then changing the connection from ethernet to wireless seems to have fixed the problem.

Restarts didn't work. Unplugging didn't work. Resets worked only temporarily. This looks like a software issue, as I had the same problem with an ATV3 and an older ATV2. It seems like the box is not seeing the internet, even though all other equipment on the same switch does, and it passed the network test.

just reboot your apple tv thats all.

If you have Apple TV software 5.0 or later installed, you can restart your Apple TV using the onscreen menu. To restart your Apple TV choose Settings > General > Restart.

if reseting your routers and modem does not work, you need to phone you isp and ask them if port 123 is being blocked. port 123 is the date and time information that the apple tv is looking for. i phoned my isp and sure enough, they had just blocked the port and were resolving a problem. this is why it will happen to all the apple tv's in your house, it is not a software bug in the apple tv. the internet can still work even with that one port being blocked, but none of your computers or devices will set time automaticaly. to test this, change the time on your laptop and then reset the computer. if your time doesn't automaticaly change to your local time, then the port is being blocked, either by a local firewall, but if the problem arises out of no where, it is probably your isp.
