Cannot send a group from my Address Book in an email

Hi:

I have a group in my address book consisting of 42 names (address cards).

Each address has its own address card (file).

When I drag the file (group name in the left panel of the address book) into the e-mail and hit send it has a warning that the "Group name" is not a valid email address.

I know in the past I have done that.

I cannot remember if I have done it since Lion was installed.

What I did now was to right click all the names and drag them into the send to line of the e-mail.

Can someone either tell me what I need to do to allow the drag and drop feature of the group card into the e-mail or if this ability has been eliminated in Lion.

I still think that MAIL should have its own discussion line.

Thanks,

Greg

I just created a new group a few days ago. I don't drag it though. Instead, in the Mail address field I start to type the group name. Since it's in Address book, the group pops up and I select it. That's it.

This has been the case since I upgraded to Lion.

I have exactly the same problem with the only difference that this worked fine in Lion until a few days ago when I upgraded to 10.7.5. I have just tried installing the Client Combined Update as that sometimes fixes things that have been caused by incremental software updates, but it still does not work. This always worked before, it is plainly an Apple software bug. Question is, will they bother to fix it?

I am reluctant to upgrade to Mountain Lion because a) the new features are irrelevant to me and b) Apple "upgrades" seem more like a "downgrade" lately - i.e. they are removing vital functions e.g. It is no longer possible to put active links in Preview PDF!!! They seem obsessed with Facebook and sharing to the detriment of core functions. I don't want to share on FaceAche any more than I already do, thanks. What I do want is for my OS X to work properly and to perform vital functions because, believe it or not, some of us actually use an Apple computer to do WORK on.
