Hi all, I've searched many Dock offerings & can't find the original Dock from Tiger, (see example, below) which, my friend, so wants for Snow Leopard.
Not a sophisticated user, so, playing with code is too scary...although he might venture to copy & paste a line or two into Terminal, if need be.

You're not going to do it by pasting "a line or two into terminal" 😉
You can change from the 3d appearance to a flat appearance with utilities like Onyx and Tinkertool. And if you do a search on macupdate with the term "dock" among the "noise" there may be some prospects. Here's a couple (have no idea if they are what you are looking for though):
Park it down the side of the screen as in your pic, and you lose the 3D effect anyway.
Admittedly you still have the lists in white on black, which I still find irritating, but otherwise no real difference.
