Where is the alarm clock on the iPad??

Um why is there not an alarm clock on the iPad? I mean it would be practical if I had a way to wake up in the morning but hey call me crazy. Apple needs to fix this like immediately. iPads definitely need alarm clock functions. iCal could at least have an alarm but it just makes a quiet little chirp. Come on Apple, put an alarm on the iPad!!!!

I bought an app, and it did not work. How many am I supposed to buy before I have tried hard enough? If something doesn't work, it shouldn't be the top rated app in its category. The negative reviews were buried, and my posts trying to alert others did not appear in the most recent comments. I just want something that works, that has been verified to do so by Apple, especially with a function so time sensitive ... as time.

Am I supposed to reply to this? Does it make you feel vindicted? The thread is open, I agree with poster, and will not stop because fanboys believe Apple has no responsibilty to its customers to provide basic features that work correctly. I appreciate the feedback link. That is the most useful link that has been provided. Your disbelief that people have this issue is hard to understand since it is a topic with over 7,000 views.

What seems DUMB to me is someone who buys a tablet, a quite expensive one at somewhere between $500 and $800 or so, then turns around and uses it as an alarm clock.

An alarm clock to get her kids up for school.

The only alarm clock she will depend on to get this done.

And does this, depends on her chosen app, no doubt selected based on nothing more than the FREE button, without even bothering to test it out to see whether or not it will work for her.

That Forrest Gump quote about "Stupid is as stupid does..." comes to mind.

Then to turn around and make snarky comments about 'fanboys'? Priceless!

Just so you don't think you're the only one, here's my story. After having used an iPhone for years, I finally took the plunge and bought the iPad 3. I was just in kitchen and needed to set a timer for 4 minutes (making coffee, though it doesn't matter). I looked briefly for my iPhone and realized it's in the other room. But my iPad was there. I assumed that the iPad has all the same stuff as the iPhone, just bigger. So I hunt around for the Clock app, which I know is easy to use as a kitchen timer. No such luck. Where is the **** thing? If my phone can be a kitchen timer, why not my tablet? Strange. In the end, I had to try to use the timer on the microwave, which is very poorly designed and way harder to use than the iPhone timer.

You are absolutely right. I agree with you and Gizmodo came to the same conclusion: http://gizmodo.com/5510939/replacing-the-apps-apple-left-off-the-ipad.

People who mentioned 100k apps available at AppStore fail to understand that only apple apps are allowed to truly run in the background without being killed by iOS. Alarm clock is one of the few apps that must be running in the background.

Valid complaint, valid point. Apple should implement true multi tasking (which allows apps to run in the background) and this problem will be solved via use of third-party apps.
