Double click is not working

Double is not working for my macbook pro. I am not able to go inside folders. I checked creating new user profile and double click is working fine. Seems to be a problem with software. Any idea???

For everyone with newer versions of Settings viewing this, I had this problem and you need to go to Settings - Accessibility - Mouse & Trackpad, and there should be a bar that says Double Click Speed. Just set that lower. I know the original asker got help with the old version of Settings, but just thought I'd leave this here in case anyone comes across this page now that Settings has been updated.
