Stylus for iPad 1st generation,,not working,,help !!

Hi There-

I have an iPad 1st generation, and recently bought a stylus for it, and it does not work. Is there aometing I need to set in the settings that would help ?/ or anything else that might work ??? I have a screen protector as well, but my finger mover it fine all the time.

Is there something that I need to look into when it comes to selecting a stylus also ???

What stylus did you buy? I have a Targus and all I do is tap it on the screen just like I would do with my finger and it works fine. Forgive me for asking but you are using the rubber tip correct?

There are three types of styluses;

Normal (for touch screens before iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad) [Same stylus that the DS's handheld game consoles use]
Capacitive (for iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad)
Tablet (Graphic and Windows Tablets [battery powered])

What is the make of the stylus that you bought for your iPad.

Hi There Guys-

It's an "iConcepts" "i Stylus" I got it at Bed Bath & Beond, and it has a rubber tip that is angled like a lipstick looks. I hopw this helps, If I can't figure it out, where can I get one of those Targus stylusses.

I'm not familiar with that one. If it has the capacitive it should work.

I bought my stylus at Best Buy. I would think that any reseller that sells touch devices would have a couple of styli from which to choose. The Targus has a round rubber bottom as opposed to the angled tip.

Try restarting your iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Try again after you restart.

Dward,

Restarting your iPad isn't going to help. You have the correct type of stylus- just a very cheap one. There is nothing wrong with how you are using it or with your settings. The stylus you have is junk and is worthless. If you want a great stylus, extremely responsive, smooth on the screen and works perfectly with screen protectors I would highly recommend the 3M Smart Pen. You can buy them here:

It is many time better than the Targus (which isn't bad) and is about $25.00. Pound for pound, I'd say this is the best stylus available for the iPad to date.
