After relocating projects to external drive, no Events exist on any drive

Hello dear folks.

I have just moved my Final Cut Pro X files – Final Cut Events and Final Cut Projects folders – from my Movies folder on the Macbook HD and onto a new external FireWire drive ('External'). Initially I moved the Projects within FCPX from the HD to the External, but I had to abort this, as it became clear the FCPX was in fact copying the files onto the same HD – essentially duplicating my the work locally, and very fast emptying my Macbook HD.

So instead I quit FCPX and headed to Finder, where I copied the Final Cut Events and Final Cut Projects folders from HD onto External. 40 minutes later the transfer was complete. The folders and the folders and files within them are on External.

But open FCPX and there are no events or projects visible in neither HD nor External. The Clip library just gives me an automatic blank Import Files / From Camera viewer.

How can I locate my projects and events in Final Cut Pro X, and continue to work on my project?

I hope someone can help – thanks a lot!

The best,

Thomas Elsted

Make sure that:

-your external drive is formatted as "mac os extended" or "mac os extended (journaled)".

-your final cut events and final cut projects folders are at the root of your external hard drive.

Also, note that FCP X doesn't like it if you have too copies of the same thing, so if you want to use the copy on your external you should remove the copy in your Movies folder, or at least put it somewhere else.
