Huge black spot on screen.

If the 5 r's that superman posted don't work, your screen is cracked. How did the blob happen?

If you nano is a defective one then they will replace it. If it broke because you dropped it or hit it against something then they won't.

Of course you can, all you have to do is request online repair service. Apple will send you a box to put your nano in and ship it back to Apple facilities they will observe it and if they find your ipod to be a defective one(which they most likey will;according to your explaination) then they will send you a new one at no charge. Just follow the directions and instrutions and you should be good, no need to panic. Go here http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/

That's the same thing with me too.
There's some black spot on the bottom left corner of the ipod nano screen..
but also
theres a thick stripe going across the screen.
now i can't see half of the screen

If you've had it less then one year, you can have a replacement sent. As long as this is your first replacement

Is it possible to take it back to where I bought it and get another for free on behalf of the warranty? Because I'm from Canada and I got it from a store "Future Shop"

If it's within 30 days, then yes, at the discretion of the customer service people. That's Future Shop's return policy. If it's outside of 30 days by a lot, there's no way. Even if you have the Future Shop warrantee, if it's outside of the 30 days, you need to send it to Apple.

Less than 6 weeks agao I received a Nano as a gift and always treated it very carefully. I have a NeuElements case and my Nano either sat in a car's cupholder (plugged into an FM adapter) or sat in a loose fitting jacket pocket all by itself. I researched carefully and wanted to do my best not to damage it.

Imagine my surprise when I went to charge it last Friday and the left part of the screen looked like the blazing Tool cursor and the lower half of the screen was not read-able. It was fine when I started my commute home.

I requested service and now I have a new Nano plugged into my PC as I write this. A very big thanks to Apple for replacing it so quickly.

But why did the LCD get cracked? I really treated my Nano like it was gold. Just how careful do I have to be?
