Is that helpful? I don't believe so. At least she said, "engineers have been alerted regarding this error."
Same 4001 problem here. Contacted Apple Support and got this response:
To resolve this error, press and hold the Option key (on a Mac) or the Shift key (on a PC) while selecting Turn Off iTunes Match from the Store menu.
Then, select Turn On iTunes Match from the Store menu and go ahead with enrolling in iTunes Match.
If still the issue is not resolved then please have a look to the link as listed below:

I hope that the above provided information would be helpful for you.

I am getting the same 4001 error when trying to enable iTunes Match on my library with about 5000 songs. I am running the GA version of iTunes 10.5.1 (42).
The error happens while "Waiting for Apple to delivery your iTunes Match results..."
Has anyone been able to get past this error ?
Thanks,
E
Thanks for the tip Seckelberry. I'm not sure if it helped or not but I seem to have found a new bug. I updated Genius and then clicked the "Start" button again on the iTunes Match screen but instead of seeing the message "Waiting for Apple to delivery your iTunes Match results..." I saw "Waiting for Apple to deliver your Genius results..." and then once delivered the match process did nto continue. I tried stop and start again but had the same result that iTunes as updating Genius instead of Match. Odd. I restarted iTunes and am trying the match again.
I also reenabled iTune Match on the computer I used during the beta and that got past the point where 4001 error had occured my iMac.
Deauthorize your computer and then reauthorize it.
Click "Store" > deauthorize
then
Store > authorize
It work for me at least on OS X. I was having the same problem until I did this.
good luck,
Christopher
I think updating Genius worked for me. I actually did all these things so can't be certain which "fixed" it:
1) Updated Genius
2) Rebooted the Mac / Restarted iTunes
3) Started Match on my other Mac where I participated in the beta
Thanks again Seckelberry!
Like many others, I too am experiencing the 4001 error. I've been using iTunes match through the developer beta's and had only seen the 4001 error immediately following the deletion of Match catelogs and the issuance of the next beta build.
This error popped up using iTunes 10.5.1 beta 3 and again when simply installing the public release of 10.5.1. The error appears on both my Mac mini and Macbook.
The following recommendations have NOT fixed this issue for me. Hopefully others have luck though.
1. Deauthorized and re-authorize the machine
2. Updated Genius
3. Tried on multiple Mac's
4. Fresh install of iTunes 10.5.1
Even though my iTunes Match library does not complete the process and errors out with the 4001 error, my iOS devices see all my "iTunes purchased" music as if that portion of iTunes Match is functioning with no problem.
Having the same problem. Have tried the solutions posted but no luck. I almost feel like it is a matter of Apple's server being busy. Each time I either get the error while "Gathering Informaion" or "Waiting for Apple results".
I, too, was on beta and this error is really starting to sound like an issue with transfering over these types of accounts.
Did anyone else get this error when Apple deleted our libraries before Beta release 2 and Beta release 3?
I got this error immediately following the library deletions but it was solved by installing the latest Beta release. I thought that was the case when I received this error again but I went out and downloaded and installed the public release of 10.5.1 and still ran into the same 4001 error.
I've tried turning off all iMatch settings for all machines used during the beta (Macbook, Mac mini, and iPhone) and then re-enabling Match on the Mac but still get the 4001 error.
Same problem. None of these solutions fixed anything. I was NOT a developer prior to this general release. I have about 12,000 songs in my library. Tried running this in the middle of the night (in case this was an Apple server overload issue).
Knock on wood, but I think it might have been caused by my iPad being set to use Match. I turned that off, launched Music on it and waited for the "no music on this device" message, then tried again - haven't gotten the error yet, but it's still "Sending data to Apple".
Mine has also been "Sending data to Apple" for about 30 minutes. Not sure if it's a good sign, but certainly different from my experiences last night when I'd get the 4001 error after about 30 seconds. My 4s had Match turned off when I was trying last night, but now I have it on and as others have reported see my entire library with only the songs I've purchased in the iTunes store available for listening.
I have tried every workaround as well to no avail. I just changed my Apple ID to a different email address and am going to try it. I too purchased iTunes Match as a dev. Some of my friends have it working fine however they were not in the dev program.
I also do not have the original iTunes library in which I first used Match, however it was disabled before it got lost.
