what can I do
I have tried every workaround as well to no avail. I just changed my Apple ID to a different email address and am going to try it. I too purchased iTunes Match as a dev. Some of my friends have it working fine however they were not in the dev program.
I also do not have the original iTunes library in which I first used Match, however it was disabled before it got lost.
FYI - I contacted iTunes support and they have a tech looking into it now. L
I contacted them yesterday and of course they never replied. But hopefully their tech can fix this fast; it's interesting that it took them this long to figure out that there's an issue.
Ive just spent some time deauthorizing my Mac and toggling Genius and iTunes Match settings and the 4001 error went away. It wasnt a celebrated victory though...upon starting Step 2 of the matching process I was presented with a 4002 error!
Here is what I received from Apple Support:
Dear Cody,
Greetings from iTunes Store Support. My name is Andrea. I understand that you receive error 4001 while waiting for your iTunes Match results. I know how inconvenient errors can be, and I thank you for giving us the opportunity to assist you with this issue.
Cody, this article may help to resolve the issue:
iTunes Store: Troubleshooting iTunes Match

However, please be aware that this new feature is still under review for issues and the engineers have been alerted regarding this error.
I hope the article proves helpful in resolving your issue. Thank you for being the best part of iTunes Cody. Take care and have a great day.
Sincerely,
Andrea

Is that helpful? I don't believe so. At least she said, "engineers have been alerted regarding this error."
Having the same issue. Tried re-auth, tried toggling off and genius off, quitting and then back on and all the other options people have said worked. No dice. Also was using in beta.
I still have the error too and tried everything. Odd thing it the old beta worked just great
Add me to the "4001 Error" list. Tried everything eveyone has suggested. Still a no go. I did test it out briefly during the beta and had no problems getting it going then.
I just found this on another site -> try holding Option while turning iTunes Match off, then enable iTunes Match again.
I am also having the "4001" error on both my MacBook Pro and my iMac.
Oh wow. I was having the same problem, trying everything mentioned previously in this thread, but holding option whilst turning off iTunes Match worked like a charm! Thanks, whatheck!!
Holding down the option key worked for me, too! Thanks.
Thanks everyone! The option key worked for me as well!
I don't know how you thought to try that, but you're a genius. It's working for me, too.
Yea I don't know how this simple fix was discovered but thank you, it worked for me as well.. unbelievable how something so simple can resolve something that was so frustrating.
