iOS 5 for iPod touch 2G

Will I lose my Warranty if I have iOS 5 on my iPod touch 2G , which I can't do from iTunes?

Is that Illegal?

Yes, the warranty would be void as you would have to violate the software licesne agreement to install it.

IOS 5, when it is released, will not be compatible with ipod touch 2nd gen.

Yes, if you do that, it will void your warranty with Apple, but it is NOT illegal. Laws have changed slightly.

Jailbreaking your device is also legal.

No, not completely useless. If you don't install any applications not approved/signed by Apple (i.e. jailbreaking the device), then your 2nd gen will probably continue to work for many more years. However you will lose the benefit of newer software updates, newer app updates and compatibility, and style. Whether or not your ipod becomes "useless" depends on the type of user you are: If you are a mild user, you might listen to music most of the time, enjoy the awesome touch screen and occasionally watch a video or play Angry Birds. Provided you don't care about connecting to the internet from your ipod touch, this means it will still work fine and be perfectly usable. If you are a heavy user, you might constantly use apps and have your device turned on and in use often. If updating the apps to work properly and having a higher quality system OS is important to you, then you might not appreciate your old device anymore and might consider purchasing a newer one. Just my guess based on a generalization. I myself own a 4th gen, and I use it ALL THE TIME. I can't imagine going without it. I am, based on my classifications, a heavy user.

Mate, The 2G iTouch was made in late 08. Not 1996 or 1998.
I bought this product in early 2010 and I do not like the fact that in less than 2 years in using this product, there is no compatibilty with the new apps due to the new iOS updates coming in.

Hey Mate, would like like a nice hunk of cheese to go with your whine?

C'mon man! 2G iPod technology is 4 Freakin' years old!
