Entourage to Address Book

Hi everyone,
I have a friend who is switching from Entourage ( the first OS X version), to Apple Mail and Address book. How can I transfer her contacts from Entourage addresses, to Apple Address Book?

Thanks!

Hi Aaron

I've just been struggling with the same.
I am using Address book in 10.4.4 and entourage x.
Address book will accept the huge text file and it worked very well for me.
Just choose 'import', 'text file' from the 'file' menu.
It will leave any contacts in address book that are already there.
I suggest you choose 'file', 'backup address book' before you start just in case.
You can then choose 'last import' view in address book and edit any of your imports.
Address book even asks you how you want to merge people that look like they're duplicated during the import.
The merge data option worked very well for me for several people.
Hope this helps

I just tried to import my address book from Entourage into Mail as you described below, but I get this error message:
The file you selected does not appear to be a valid comma separated values (csv) file nor a valid tab delimited file, please choose another file.

Would you please tell me exactly which file I am supposed to choose in Entourage (ie what file in Entourage contains the address book or contacts), and where it is found?

Thanks in advance!

I cannot get Mail to import my address book from Entourage (both on the same iMac). I have 10.4.6 Mail and Entourage 2004 which has stopped working (which is why I am trying to migrate to Mail), even though I reloaded from the original disc etc. I have been doing this using the menus within Mail. It imports only the first 51 names of my 600+ address in Entourage.

I cannot try to import using the Apple Script utility method because I cannot find where Entourage puts my addresses. Can anyone tell me which file to choose in Entourage and how to find it?

Many thanks in advance!

I had luck with just dragging and dropping my Entourage addresses into Address Book. I am using Entourage X and Address book 3.1.2.

I have my contacts in Entourage set by category. In Entourage, I selected "Category Is..." and selected one category. In Address Book, I created the same category.

I then went to Entourage, and selected all contacts that displayed in that category, then dragged and dropped into Address Book and everything seemed to transfer.

Then for fun, I synced with my iPod and I now have all my addresses in my iPod.
