That's not the point. Yes, my settings will be erased BUT the next owner of the iPhone/iPad is not able to register their account in the MagicJack app because the serial number is registered under my account.

It's only a matter of time that the jailbreak community will develop an app to fake the serial number so iPhone owners can use the MagicJack app on an iPhone that previously is associated with another account. Perhaps after that they will modify my.magicjack.com so that the account owner can delete their iDevice.

Hey guys, so i see most of this posts are from 2011 and let me just tell you that i have the same problem and it's July 2012. I have spend couple of hours for the last few days trying to identify the reason why i could not log in to my account and why i got that response and yes, indeed magijack saves the serial number of the original phone when you download the app.

I'm using an iphone that belong to a realtive that had an account as well (total diff number) now the tech guys told me before that if i would be able to identify the orignal device from my relative's account they owould be able to delte it from his accont and be able to use my login etc. But now, they told me that even it's deleted from his account is STILL hard coded in their system or db hence, it cannot be associated with the new account.

I asked them if they could delete the serial number completely from the db and they said they do not have that capability. It is surprsing to me that a company like that has not the capability to delte those serial numbers. What do they need them for if they are not being in used anyway? How come after all this time still cannot be cleared so it can be reuse. It's so simple to free that serial in order to be associated with another account speically when you provide them with all the info. This is crazy and dissapointing as i've been using mj for over 3 years through my laptop with no porblems and wanted to add it to my iphone.

Any ideas? is there light at the end of the tunel?

This is the VOCALTEC website, the company behind Magicjack

I think we should invade their e-mail addresses with our problem. They need to fix this issue is driving me crazy as I use this device quite often.

I've gone into the back end.  I've tried to fix the issue, but have found that (as mentioned in a couple of previous posts) the issue is with the Magic Jack database.  Once you enter and submit upon installing the iphone App - if the information is incorrect or you ever want to change it, it has to be done by an administrator of Magic Jack.  But - as we all have found, Magic Jack will not administer the request... They play dumb and pretand that they don't know what the problem is... or tell you to reset your phone.  But that will not fix the issue.  It really ***** - and i'm really ****** about it.  But, that's it.

Basically I believe it comes down to cost.  The reason MJ is cheap, is because of low overhead, and minial customer service.  For them to administer what we've all found to be a HUGE problem, would simply cost them too much to rectify, or provide the appropriate skilled customer service to revise their database to be edited as required.

This amounts to crap. Its completely ridiculous.... However, I guess we can all agree, that we all like the fact that MJ is an affordable alternative to traditional telephone service rippoffs.  It's about time.... It's not perfect, but ...... What can you expect for $50 a year.

And the coinciding iphone App is a great idea - But i really doubt the MJ is going to fix the flaw in their database to appease a few hundred or few thousand requests.

    Sadly - but - true..............

If MJ or Apple is listening - Like everyone else is saying - please do something about this??

Evidently, as with most things they will not do anything until it costs them money.

Does anyone know any legal minds to put togeter a class action suit?

Perhaps if they informed us that they would keep our phones hostage then we could make

an informed decision. FTC or Justice department anyone?

I believe there are rules to guide us here; it doesn't make sense that someone can make

software to intensionally break your computing device ... is this called malware?

Im a tech guy and a business guy so I know from these two perspectives it doesn't make any sense.

They could delete our devises from their database as we request.

They could even charge to do it, I would pay to get rid of this mistake.

But really are they serious about this?

Please will a legal guy stand up?

This is a very silly problem that is still persisting to this date.

I will send an email to VocalTec as suggested. I hope others have done the same.

Bought a used iPhone 4S. Had no problem downloading FreeTalk APP. Cannot register due to "Your Device is not on this Account". Same as everyone else since beginning. Over a year ago.

Cannot believe that programmers would design this criteria into the software in the first place.

Aram: Hello, how may I help you?

Christopher Kessell: Hi, I have a standard Majic Jack which I never use but I use the Majic Jack App until recently when I upgraded my iphone from a 3gs to a 4gs. I cannot register my account on the new phone...

Aram: Do you mean you cannot longer  register a  MJ app on your iphone?

Christopher Kessell: After I put in the e-mail address and password it tells me "Your Device is not on this Account"

Aram: I will be right with you.

Christopher Kessell: Its now telling me: "The installation Associated with your device is invalid"

Christopher Kessell: When I check my account settings I see both of my old iphones. These are no longer working and unfortunately I don't see a way to remove them from the system

Aram: Have you  tried to uninstall and re install  on your Iphone?

Christopher Kessell: I can try that

    Aram: Please  do

Christopher Kessell: I'm concerned that the long standing problem of deregistering the iphone serial number from the Majic Jack system is still active and has never been addressed by MJ

Aram: I understand that  but if you already  install before a MJ app on your iphone  you cannot longer install a new one

Christopher Kessell: Well I got it from my son so I don't know if it was registered. The fact that MJ has not addressed this problem after years is just downright amazing to me...

Aram: I understand you may ask your son if he installed  and used  a MJ app before  he gave the phone to you. and maybe the phone of your son need to be updated,

Christopher Kessell: Updated to what?? That makes no sense

Christopher Kessell: Apparently this problem is well documented and yet you nor MJ can do anything about it??

Aram: actually we can fix that kind of problem  but would it be possible if you try to contact your son and ask if he  try to install  a MJ app before on   that phone before he  gave it to you?

Christopher Kessell: I will. I have reinstalled the app and still get the same message: "Your device is not on this account"

Christopher Kessell: So if he has used the app on this phone before, is there a way to get it deregistered so I can use it with my account??

Aram: Yes if  get this kind of message  "Your device is not on this account" that means that phone you have right now has already  installed a MJ APP before  your son  gave to you

Aram: So I suggest you to ask your  son and ask for the email and password that he put when he install the MJ app.  on that phone so that youc an enter it there,.

Christopher Kessell: You stated: "Aram: actually we can fix that kind of problem" I wan't you to deregister the phone from any previous account and let it registered on my own account. I don't wan't to have his number nor use his account.

Aram: Yes  we can actually fix it in fact the  solution of your problem is  for yo to contact your  son and ask him the  log in information   that he put when he install the MJ app before he gave the phone to you.  so that you can put it in there and you can use  the MJ  APP that he installed  on that phone.

Aram: I am transferring you to one of our top 10% agents as rated by our customers. Please hold while I transfer you.

    Christopher Kessell: Hi

Ezekiel: Hello. My name is Ezekiel. To better assist you, let me put you on hold while I read your previous chat/s. Thank you.

Christopher Kessell: I'm guessing that you must get this problem quite a bit and because MJ cannot be bothered to fix it you guys get lumbered with people like me that get frustrated over what shoul be a simple change of account setting.

Ezekiel: The message is telling you that the Iphone is already registered.

Christopher Kessell: I knew that many sentances ago...

Ezekiel: The only issue is that you need to know exactly what email is registered on it.

Ezekiel: So I believe you understand then.

Christopher Kessell: And if I do what next?? I don't want to use anyone elses account

Ezekiel: Or you pretend not to..

Ezekiel: There is nothing we can do about it.

Christopher Kessell: I want to use my accont which seemingly should be a simple change

Ezekiel: You can only register it once.

    Ezekiel: Not possible.

Ezekiel: I believe I have provided all the necessary information that you need. I will end this chat now. If you have any other concern, please don't hesitate to chat us back. Thank you.

I have a request to everyone who submits an issue regarding their inability to register their device to a MagicJack. Please go and write a review and rate (1 STAR) the TalkFree App in the Apple Store. There are far too many "WOW" "AWESOME" reports when this product has a MAJOR BUG and a "GOTCHA" trap. I am a new buyer and did not realize the complete nature of the issue until I tried to register the mobile device.

This GOTCHA has been going on for a couple of years with no solution. It is a programming software fix. At this stage it is a management problem. Not a HELP desk issue. I am using other APPs that correct these problems in a few days/weeks not years.

I am so frustrated that the Free Talk MajicJack App will not allow you to switch accounts.

No lawyers have taken a class action against MJ.

I am wondering if someone could develop an app that intercepts by making a far more surperior app.

If not, I wonder if Anonymous is willing to hack MJ database and put some pressure on MajicJack to move and upgrade their app since it is long over due.  Is Anonymous willing to help the little guy against big CORP?

    We are all so frustrated.

    Hello everyone;

I followed the suggestion of one of the previous frustrated customers and began writing complaints to:

requesting a reply. Vocaltec is listed as a parent.

Eventually (30 days), someone came back to me from magicJack saying they needed to search on the the email address of the APP of the person who registered the cell phone to an account. I found this from the previous owner and magicJack deactivated the SN of my cell phone so I could register it to my account. Fixed in less than 24 hours. So…. it can be corrected on their database. They can release your phone from one account to be used in another. Their search capabilities, maintenance of their product and service of their customers is extremely inadequate and frustrating to say the least.

The previous owner has gone to comwave.com and is very happy with them. Maybe worth investigating. I will be with magicJack for at least one cycle.

    We'll see after that.
