Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Apple TV keeps telling me to Authorize my computer.

I'm repeatedly being told to authorize my computer to play a purchased movie. I've done that several times, no go. I've updated, restored and rebooted to no avail. Any suggestions?

Apple TV, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Same issue here. Since yesterday iTunes has locked me out by forgetting my password. Then, when I was finally able to get my password reset, I get locked out of the content that I have paid for.

While I understand that the entire authorization system is meant to prevent fraud and piracy I see this as a loss of income in a sense. I've paid for it. I want to watch it whenever I want. I want to NOW.

I'm not looking for a handout from Apple over this, but it would be nice if they were a bit more open about outages and a little more willing to say "We are sorry. We value your patronage. We would like to make it up to you for more-or-less ruining your Friday night." (that goes for you too, Netflix)

I am sure all of this is due to system updates for the upcoming Apple iPhone announcement. iCloud is rolling out any time now, and nobody should be surprised that Oct 4th's "one more thing" will be related to iOS 5 on AppleTV.

All-in-all i suppose we all will have to take these little hiccups in stride, and not get too worked up about them. It would be nice, though, if Apple could throw it's loyal, long-time customers a bone every now and then.

I'm in the same boat. All my HDMI and TVs are compliant. Non-Apple purchased movies play just fine. I wonder if it's a DRM issue since no one can authorize?

No Apple purchased movies or TV shows. Which is weird because this morning I could watch TV shows but no movies. Now both are out.

I tried the start in iTunes and then start on AppleTV, but that didn't work for me.

Same issue tonight September 30.

While watching Apple TV2, we abruptly had our movie interupted with the message that the "home-sharing" Apple computer was not "authorized".

However - we could view all our iTunes content on the actual computer (it was indeed "authorized") - it just wasn't recognized as such on Apple TV.

We've had no prior issues with our system and had no recent upgrades.

To trouble shoot I: 1) unplugged and plugged-in Apple TV, 2) deathorized and reauthorized computer, and 3) restored settings on Apple TV. All without any change. Have left a service message with Apple.

Perhaps a problem with the iCloud change over process? Very frustrating as currently unable to view TV or Movies on AppleTV.

Hey Everyone,

Same issue here...tried everything. I see that the consensus is that Itunes is the issue; however, it would have been nice for Apple to chime in here and let us know of an issue that we are not racking our brains out trying to figure out something that can't be fixed. Think I will start buying my movies on dvd again...
