Apple TV keeps telling me to Authorize my computer.

I'm repeatedly being told to authorize my computer to play a purchased movie. I've done that several times, no go. I've updated, restored and rebooted to no avail. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately I don't have a solution, but am all of a sudden experiencing the same problem myself. Oddly enough I can enjoy my media by selecting it via the "purchased" route. You can use that option until this is resolved. But yeah, resetting the ATV, computer, and resetting the network connection does not work.

Well, I feel a bit less concerned now that I know I'm not the only one!

This evening I ran into the same problem. My ATV 2G tells me I need to authorize my computer to play the media selected.

I'll try to access the show through the 'Purchased' menu once my wife is finished watching a show on Netflix.

In the mean tim, I'm really interested in what the heck is going on!

Apologies, you can only view your purchased TV shows currently by looking under the TV Shows option in the main menu. Don't know of a way to do this for movies or songs. Probably coming out with the pending iCloud updates. This must be a temporary bug within the iTunes system. There are only so many things we can do with this simple system, sounds like we've all tried those few potential fixes.

I'm having the same problem. I have an ATV2 and am trying to watch a movie that I purchased which resides in iTunes on my Macbook (via Homesharing.)

Never had a problem before, but now it is saying I need to "authorize." I have rebooted, de-authorized my macbook, reauthorized, updated software, etc.

Still no soup for me.

I am also having the same issue. I can watch the purchased TV shows if I go through the "purchased" menu under TV but there is no way to access purchased movies because they are not yet stored on iCloud like the tv shows are. Surprisingly the problem does not exist with the 1st generation Apple TV units. I have two of those and they work fine. Only the 2nd generation Apple TVs are affected.

I recently switched to Lion as the operating system. Could that be the problem or are the rest of you still using Snow Leopard or earlier?

I do have intermittent DSL issues and that may explain the "iTunes Store Unavailable" message because I get the store now but the ATV keeps asking me for my passwork and when I submit it it informs me that I cannot login until the Network Time is set. I set the N=Time Zone, because I see no way to set the network time on the ATV, and it seems to take but I still can't login.
