Can't see iPad in iTunes

After a system restore I can't see my iPad in Itunes anymore. This is a problem because I can't get my apps back.

Thanks for any help,

Kate Galway

I just don't know when to give up so here is my last gasp effort .... read this thread - what I suggested to the OP who couldn't get apps to continue to download on the iPad no matter what he did. The problem went on for weeks apparently.

I don't think we covered this yet - sign out - restart and sign in again.

Thanks for not giving up on me. I tried signing out rebooting my iPad and signing back in still the same. I also tried that on my computer still the same. I tried deauthorizing my computer and re authorizing and that gives me a message "can not download purchased apps becasue you are not Authorized" it then tells me how to Authorize my computer and the message I get is that I have already Authorized this computer? Something strang is going on with my iTunes???

Do you think it would help to uninstall iTunes and re download it? I tried that once already with no luck.

I could re download my purchased apps and pay the $50.95 that I have already spent but it is the principal of the thing. How many people do this and how much money does Apple make off them already?

Thanks again for your patiences and help,

Kate

Kate.....

This is a glitch somewhere in the software or in the iTunes Store with respect to your iTunes Account. This is not a devious plot by Apple to extract more money from customer's pockets. I realize this has to be extremely frustrating for you but I don't believe that this is any problem that cannot be solved even if you have to contact Apple or the iTunes Store for a resolution.

Have you tried to download one of your purchased apps again? If you tap on the icon of a previously purchased app - the price under the app icon may turn into - Install - and if that happens, that would be an indication that iTunes knows that you have already paid for the app and you can download it again for free. You can try that - tap on one of the least expensive apps that you have already purchased. Try to download it again and see if the price turns into the word Install. If it does, download it again and you shouldn't be charged. If the word install does not appear, then don't download it.

I tend to lose track in these longer threads - do the purchased apps show up in iTunes on your computer? And did you try to sync them again if they do? I'm sorry for not checking but I'm typing on my iPad right now and sometimes if you go to another page in Safari and then come back to the page that you were typing on, that page may refresh and you lose everything that you just typed. I don't want that to happen with this post. :)

I tried that and reinstalled a $1.99 app. It did install over the old Icon and I got the traditional letter from ITunes charging me again for a app I have already purchased. Yes the purchase apps appear on my iPad and Computer and they are functional on my iPad but I can not install the updated. There is where my problem lies.

If you know how to get to your purchase history on the computer, I would urge you to go through the list and write down the purchase and the dates of purchase and contact iTunes Store support about this issue. Typically, Apple has been good with issues like this. You are entitled to the downloads again without having to pay for them.

Launch iTunes on the computer - go to the iTunes Store - sign in to your account - click on Account - under Quick Links - and then click on - see all in the Purchase History and start going through the list.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you but the worst did happen. I found out my account had been hacked into and some charges were made to my account. It took two days to figure all this out and another four days for me to be able to sign into my " APPLE SUPPORT COMMUNITIES" account. What a mess. All chargers were taken off my account and I think they know who did it.

I am happy to report that everything is back to normal now and everything is working the way it should be.

Once again thank you for all the advice.

I hope this does not happen to anyone else but if it does I hope this will help them figure things out and know that it can all be fixed.
