Can I "save as PDF" in iOS like I can with Mac OSX?

Is there a way to "save as PDF" in iOS? The functionality I need is available in Mac OSX through all print dialogs I've ever seen, like it is part of Mac OSX. I can't seem to duplicate this functionality in iOS, even with the addition of 3rd party apps.

Any suggestions? Is there a way to submit enhancement requests for Apple to consider in future updates?

All help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Here are two methods that work for me currently (iOS 10.2.1) without the need for any third-party app. The original request was to "save as PDF" without specifying where we are saving from: method 1 works for web pages in Safari and for emails, for example. Method 2 is specifically for web pages in Safari.

Method 1: Using the Print Function

  1. Tap the Share ⍐ icon and then Print.
  2. [Optionally, set the page range or select individual pages to add/remove from the PDF.]
  3. On the print preview, expand using 2-finger swipe.
  4. With the print preview now expanded to full screen view, tap the Share icon again, from which you can share the PDF via email, Messages, save it to iCloud, or save it to any other app than understands PDFs.

Method 2: Using iBooks

  1. In Safari, tap the Share ⍐ icon and then Save PDF to iBooks. This will create the PDF and transfer it (and you) to iBooks.
  2. Once you are viewing the PDF in iBooks, you can use the Share ⍐ icon to email it. Also, if you have other Apple devices connected to the same iCloud account, that PDF will show up in iBooks on those devices.
  3. [Optionally, tap < (upper left) to go to the iBooks contents view, tap Select (upper right), select the PDF just created, and Delete it.]

I recently bought the app, convert2pdf, for my ipad. I can now highlight a web page, copy it, go to convert2pdf and have it create the page and then pdf the file. Finally I can "send to" any app or print/email the resulting pdf file. Can do the same thing from an app that has "send to". Works great and is relatively cheap.

Yes you can save Mail as a PDF. In iOS 10 the functionality has been added to the "Print" dialogue.

iOS Create PDF

Also new in iOS 10, you’ll now be able to create a PDF from the print panel much like you have long been able to do on the Mac. After selecting Print, you can access the feature by pinching out from the print preview screen with two fingers and hitting the share menu in the upper right corner (or use peek and pop with 3D Touch instead of pinching). Any app that can accept PDF sharing will be under the share menu and you can send your newly created PDF from there.

I have tested this successfully with iOS 10 Mail from my iPad Air 2.

I hope this helps,

Peter
