Disconnect audio from video track?

Is there a way to disconnect video from an audio track? I'm editing to music, and I'd like to be able to make edits to the music without editing the video currently connecting to it.

A work around would be to mute the music part of the track and re import the music in stereo later. Click on your audio track then go to the inspector and change the channel confuguration to split duel mono then uncheck whichever track is the music and leave the voice over checked. Now only the voiceover will be heard so you can edit it and then re import the music later. FCPX I believe defaults to surround sound, you should really start a project in stereo if that is your final output other wise you get 6 channels of audio when your working in surraound, but if it is surround you should still be able to mute the music tracks by unclicking FL or FR. You have to stop playback and then start again to hear the new channel selections that you have made and you will want to pan the voice over to the center. This way you are basically just muting the music but you will still be editing it. Not sure if FCPX can seperate the channels into seperate tracks.

The other way is to use anaudio program like Pro Tools that will let you export a stereo file into two seperate mono files and then import them into FCPX.

The other thing you can do is when you import a clip for the first time into fcpx you can select to import to stereo not surround and select split stereo files under the import menu that makes them two mono files instead of connected stereo,, then once imported you can separate " break apart clip" the two audio tracks from each other and the video and edit them separately.
