graphic card update .. Why is it so complicated

Hello,

Sad to say but I am at this point where I think that I probably made a mistake to go for Mac.

(Especially after that Final Cut X episode).

Well , here is my question:

I have a 2009 MacPro Nehalem process (let me know if you need the serial number) and I would like (actually it is more a need) to upgrade.

I work with HD stuff and 2 GT 120 are just not powerfull enough to do what I want.

My question is: is it really the only thing you offer?

Is there another alternative? Is there another model compatible with Mac pro 2009 ?

Please save my life

Thanks a lot.

( I was also curious to know why you charge $269 when Futur Shop charges $199 for the same thing)

The video I posted is fairly helpful:

It states that the card doesn't display a startup screen, so it's not really fully functional, but he could always keep one of his GT 120s in the machine as a spare for that purpose.

I believe Lion contains the driver for the 6870 because Apple uses the mobile version of it as an option in one of the new iMacs. I wouldn't expect it to work with Snow Leopard 😟 I'm not sure what settings you're describing. I haven't done extensive testing, so I'm not sure I can vouch for how well the card actually works vs Apple's 5870, but this is MUCH cheaper.

PCs are finally adopting EFI, so it's possible we could see much greater card compatibility in the near future.
