Hi
My windows7 laptop will pick it up and I can user Windows movie maker. However my Mac is not even recognising I have it connected (yes I definetly did and tried 3 different cables).
Any ideas?

It would be really helpful to know what model mini you have, how you're connecting the camera (firewire/USB), and whether you are using iMovie or another program to take the camera feed into your mini.

OK this was helpful. The 2nd link really helped and confirmed what I thought. I need to be using a firewire.
I am on v2.4 (Ithink Mac Mini). I only got it in June. I am using v11 for iMovie but was using the USB connection which according to the help article is for static images.
I ordered a firewire last night and will let you know if it works.

I read your post and since I own both a Panasonic NV GS27 and a MacBook Pro and a brand new fire wire 800 4to9 pin cable, camera to mac, I am still unable to see the camera when I connect it to the mac.
I looked everywhere on the web without finding any helpful insight.
Were you able to solve your issues just buying the cable or did you have to do something else?

Is the camera set to "Playback" and NOT "Camera" mode?
With camera connected, powered on, and in Playback mode, look at:

Unfortunately, I did all you said and verified the system profiler for the firewire and doesn't detect anything, i.e. it is FireWire 800: (empty)
